I'm going to try now primarily to get all my astronauts into space. I dont want them quitting, I want to keep them happy and the equipment ready for the impending Apollo missions.

* I need to do some maths and addup the lift capacity of the Titan/Booster/Kicker-A package. I believe i'll need more for moon missions.

Ok manual says. I need a Kicker-B to make the Trans-Lunar Injection burn with a LEM attached. In english that means IIRC that this is the burn they make while in orbit around earth, to insert the ship into orbit around the moon. There will be a later correction burn (which is also factored in) which uses capsule skill/usage/engine however.

Kicker A can however I think get me on lunar orbit missions, possibly even lunar orbit LEM tests. For Gemini craft

Now for Lift...
Titan rocket has a payload capacity of 1500
Strap on boosters add +1000 to that.
For a total of 2500 payload capacity.

Docking module weighs: 300
Gemini craft weighs: 1200
LEM weighs: 1500
For a total of: 2500

It is possible Lunar LEM tests then can be made in Gemini, however for Apollo(weighs more than gemini) we require a Saturn V rocket with 3200 payload capacity.

Yeah, I'm going into the "computer" business, because currently this space program isn't going too well, I feel like I'm wasting my time.

Lorak retired
Muz is dissatisfied.
M S Hunt announced retirement
One earth orbital LEM test is a go, running low on flight crews.
Recruited more astronauts, but they probably wont have time to do anything before we attempt a landing or loose.
Historical Lunar landing mission is slated for next season.
Apollo XVI LEM test docking failed. We are going to have to pray for the Lunar landing party.

XIV Lunar Historical Lunar Landing mission!

The launch goes without a hitch.... so does the TLI burn...

They reach the moon....

the LEM powers on....

They manage to dock with the LEM!...

They make the ascent... but fail to locate the landing site!

HOWEVER the secondary site is located...

They land...

They perform the EVA...

Servant Corps plants the flag and says "Thats One small step for the other games forum. One giant leap for Bay12."

The LEM lifts off....

They manage to redock with the CSM!

The TLE burn goes well...

They re-enter the earth atmosphere....

They crash in the sea...

The rescue chopper arrives...

MISSION COMPLETE. WE BEAT THE SOVIETS TO THE MOON!

Out of interest, does anyone want me to do it as Soviets? I'd try and organise the Astronauts a bit better with a second try. Though they were quite spread out. Also I'd allow players to either choose or roll their starting skills. 8 points if chosen is reasonable.

Fairly good stats there. Ill have to do a quick trial run before to test the LEM. The russian one is strange, I think the Kicker-C is a kicker+docking module. I want to be sure as the DM is essential for winning the game. Also for funzies, I might go for a twoman moon landing in the Voshkod Module.

For clarity, anyone joining can either:

Roll their stats between 1 and 4 for each skill. You could do better, you could do worse than the alternative.
Pick what skills they want with 8 points. You have 8 points guarenteed. But only 8.

You cant pick the skill levels, you can only reduce them below what the astronaut had. For example if one had 2 C, you could decease it to 1 but not over 2.

Instead what ill do is ask for a preferance. Do you want a:

High Capsule skill
High LEM sill
High EVA skill
High docking.
High endurance

and ill find a 3/4 skill naut in those catagories. This time I'll make a concerted effort to make the bay12ers the most skilled ones I can.
