22m DB well. Formula for architecture?
« on: January 03, 2011, 10:07:21 pm »

From looking at my fortress wealth and the increase in architectural wealth, I estimate this well to be about 22 million dwarfbucks.

Finely designed
Masterfully constructed

materials:
Native Aluminum blocks: 200db
Exceptional Adamanatine chain: 15,000db
Masterful Adamantine bucket: 36,000db
Otadgikut "Handdabblers" a raw adamantine mechanisms: 1,503,600db

Anyone know the formula?  I figured it would be similar to the food formula, but because there's 2 different quality modifiers for architecture, I'm not sure how it would work.

get an artifact adamantine chain and bucket (planepacked of course) and an adamantine block.  or make it a 1x1 room and check that room value.

how do I do this?  I don't see an option through the room list.

I don't think you even need to make a room for it to say in the listing.

true, but I still don't see some kind of numerical value everywhere.

The value of a well is the value of its components added together.

Block + chain + bucket.

And apparently +mechanism, although I don't remember needing a mechanism to make a well...

Not possible, there must be some multiplier for the quality of design and construction.  This well has a value of at least 20 million.

Don't know the formula, though apparently it's not too much.  From what I hear at least.

The "finely designed" would be the architectural part.  "Masterfully constructed" would be the mason(?) part.  I believe that part also affects the multiplier, since it's listed.

OH WAIT, after reading the wiki article for the THIRD time, I see the formula is actually posted there.

(sum value of parts) x (design quality modifier + construction quality modifier) = total value

so 1,554,800 * (3 + 12) = 23,322,000

Okay, thread over i suppose.

That's nothing - in one of my 40d fortresses, I built a well with 2 artifacts (a raw adamantine mechanism (1.95M) and an artifact adamantine chain (1.46M)) with masterwork design and masterwork construction - it was worth over 80 million dwarfbucks. Get (raw) adamantine artifacts for all 3 components (plus metal adamantine blocks) and you'll break 100 million easily.

It's amazing how dwarves can make a stack of bones completely waterproof and magmaproof.
It's amazing how they can make an entire floodgate out of the bones of 2 cats.

Huh. I was almost certain that the sum was the value.

And also that construction quality only had an effect on the happy thoughts given to dwarves, not on value.

HUP OH WELL

That sounds like such a nice fort to live in...new plan.  Give all nobles dirt rooms with no quality beds, thats it.  Give all useful (read:  non-noble) dwarves crazy fancy rooms.  Engraved native platinum/adamantine walls, adamantine wells, steel cabinets, masterwork/artifact beds, the works. Laugh profit as stupid nobles exterminate themselves. :D
