Natural Beauty vs Artificial Beauty

Yes, the poll is terrible. :p

So, B12G, do you generally prefer natural beauty (no make up, just raw looks, confidence etc) or artificial beauty (make up, surgery, artificial hair etc)?

Personally, I'm a great lover of natural beauty. Any girl that looks like she's trying too hard (*cough* Cheryl Cole *cough*) is greatly unattractive to me. I'm a man who prefers women like Nigella Lawson and the like.

What do you like, B12G?

Bah. I voted before reading the thread, assuming you meant man-made beauty (IE paintings and what not) v natural beauty (waterfalls and miracles).

Natural, fake 'beauty' often looks really really weird if you bother to look closely.

I don't see a difference. If something is beautiful, then it's beautiful. It's more being unbiased.

... Goddammit, I was going to get an argument as to whether mathematics could be considered artificial or natural (i.e. the "are you a Platonist or not" distinction).  Teaches me not to read.

Otherwise: I don't wear makeup or have surgery myself.  I guess I'd say I'm more for "natural" beauty, though I speak of course as someone who was naturally born ravishingly beautiful.

. . .

Haha.  No, I'm just lazy.  But I really do prefer the natural look.  For most people, it seems that makeup and surgery are really a waste of time and money that could be better spent elsewhere.  Like in development of character.

Oh crap. It seems I made the same mistake Vector made. Teaches me not to take Dayquil unless I'm about to go to bed.

I guess I would be for natural beauty then. And by natural, I mean by not having to be changed. Though If it is on an artificial platform, it could still hold on to natural beauty in a variety of ways.

Haha.  No, I'm just lazy.
A woman after my own laziness. I already wash this damn body, I shouldn't have to go further than hygiene here.

And similarly I was making a large argument on how one could not make a good decision here as we are always stumbling upon definitions and aspects of beauty we have never witnessed before, understanding the qualities of different types of beauty and how new ones always pop up that changes our definitions of them. Of how one could come across somebody heavily in either natural ore artificial beauty, depending on which one you normally dislike, and find them as the most attractive person you have ever seen. I know a few exceptions like that on both sides, so I found this whole thing subjective and diverse enough to be above classification.

Then I realized it was awfully nihilist and kinda useless in an argument, so I scrapped it.

Meh, bits of both.
Namely, I like prostheses and makeup done right, dyed hair, etcetera, but don't like surgery and such.

Of course, someone who has to substitute their body parts still can be beautiful.
