Has anyone breached hell in a fortress and then gone down there in adventure mode?  Or are there actual openings elsewhere in adventure?

If you can find it, there's someone who genned a world (in a fairly recent version) which for some reason had an open crevice to hell in it then uploaded the save on this forum.

if you can find a cave that leads to the first cavern layer you might be able to explore and find a downward passage.  You might be able to find another one leading to the third cavern layer.  Then, you might be able to find a Demonic Fortress.  IF you manage to get this far, fight through the zombie horde, and remove the upright weapon, then fight off the demonic throng, you can explore hell.

This is a useful feature..and this is DF.. so im gonna assume its bugged
That's what cages and minecart shotguns are for!  We don't need to control them.  We just need to aim them.

In one of my worlds, I had this awesome adventurer, Aban Diamondtowns (swordsdorf). So I made a fortress with the specific intent of breaching HFS and making him some weapons out of the blue stuff so he could go kill clowns.

So I eventually find the blue stuff, make some weapons, and then start digging down to HFS through the blue stuff tunnel. I pierced it, abandoned the fortress, grabbed my adventurer, and visited it. I managed to hop down the tunnel, using alt+ in the direction of the hollow squares. So, basically, descending into HFS involved several short z level falls, which didn't manage to hurt my adventurer due to his stats and armor.

But then, the last jump involved too many z-levels. The adventurer fell through it and slammed into an obstacle (HFS floor), resulting in several broken bones, heavy bleeding, extreme pain, and damage to organs. Lost ability to stand.

He still managed to kill 3 or 4 clowns. Then he got swarmed, passed out from the pain, got his upper arm lopped off, and bled to death. I firmly believe that if he had been in top condition at the time of facing them, he would've killed them all.

Well, it sure was fun

I made it to a curious structure after 3 layers of cavern levels while exploring a cave, I couldn't find any obvious way into the structure so I tried jumping off a small cliff that lead to a dead end. I had to abandon my Urist McLengendary, so yeah I guess getting a fortress, digging and abandoning is the best way to go, you'll have an easy way out once you're done with HFS instead of having to traverse endless caverns all the way back and if you do find the curious structure with your dwaves, you might be able to dig a path into it.

Speaking of the curious structure, I wonder if removing the weapon summons demons in adventure mode?

I'll probably end up trying hell with my current fort.  It's hitting the end of it's life by being fairly untouchable to normal threats and a 20+/- fps.  Once I figure out HOW to play adventure mode  :)

According to the wiki, that works exactly the same as if it's been removed in fortress mode.

Actually, this makes me wonder: has anyone ever unsealed the passage to hell in a demonic fortress then (whether that adventure survives or not) found the spawned/released demons above-ground?

I made a fortress that eventually breached hell and abandoned it.  After making some nice adamantine equipment of course.  Once I finally managed to find it in adventure mode I found my new equipment and went down.  Too bad I'm not good enough to actually beat a demon yet.  Going to have to train a lot first.

I had no problems getting down there though.  And some of the junk from the fortress was scattered down there too.

If a bad dwarf dies in Hell, does... he... not... die? Or does he go to Heaven? Or does he discorporate and go somewhere worse?

Just learned of a mistake I made.  Don't go down there and come back up.  It spawns WAY too many demons.  Must have killed 50+ in single digit FPS and there was still no end of them in sight.  And I never even reached hell again.  Better luck next time.

What you need is a clown killing machine that is simple enough to operate that an adventurer can do it

Geico, it's so easy, an adventurer can do it.
