Like Dwarfs with Old ones thrown in?

I can see that being done.

My 40d Deep One mod was/is ultimately a minor ancillary part of a larger custom mod whose main theme was actually anthropomorphic cats and mice, which thematically is quite a different thing entirely (Lovecraft's fascination with felines notwithstanding)

My computer is having a bit of trouble running dwarf fortress at the moment for some reason, could someone test out the starspawn for me?

By the way, kind of an aside, but I just thought that, in case you didn't already know, I'd tell all of you that a lot of Cthulhu Mythos fiction can be read for free on Wikisource.

We could probably find a lot of good ideas that haven't been proposed already by going through some of Lovecraft's lesser known stories.

Yes, and alot of minor mythos creatures many people tend to ignore, like the beings from Yaddith and the inhabitance of Irem and sarnath.

Sarnath was a standard megaproject city. It was massive and rich, the people were drunk and merry, and it met its doom at the hands of things forgotten by the light.

Straying ever so slightly off topic for a moment, have any of you seen the 1986 film adaptation of "From Beyond' starring Jeffrey Combs (the same guy who played Herbert West in "Reanimator"*)? Can you tell me if its any good?



*I also heard that he was in a recent remake of "The Dunwich Horror"

Getting back on topic, how loose of a definition of what constitutes "the Cthulhu Mythos" are we using here?

For example, would we consider Kandarian Demons a part of the Cthulhu Mythos? What about the Ogdru Jahad and Ogdru Hem? Gozer the Gozerian? Loi-Goi? The Yacatisma? Y'chak the Violet Flame?


(P.S. for those of you who don't know , the kandarians are from the "Evil Dead" trilogy, the Ogdru Jahad and Ogdru Hem are from 'Hellboy', Gozer the Gozerian is from 'Ghostbusters', Loi-Goi is...

...from the novel "Warghoul" by Dave Brockie (the lead singer of the heavy metal band GWAR; Better known by the stage-name 'Oderus Urungus'), the "Yacatisma" a race of alien super-beings from the mythology of the Church Of the SubGenius (whose mythology is largely based on the Cthulhu Mythos, even drawing from it directly in several places), and, finally Y'chak the Violet Flame is an entity worshipped by the aboleths from "Dungeons and Dragons" (first introduced in the 3.5e rulebook "Lords of Madness", IIRC))

I am unsure how much of these kind of creatures im going to add in, you can remove or add them from the mod on your own once I finish it. The non-lovecraft mythos beings I am sure im going to use are Star vampires, Cthugha, Hastur and the king in yellow, Carcosans,and Tsthagua.
