No.  Or rather; yes, but if you go there in adventure mode, you won't find anything, and if you try to start in an ocean site you will be teleported to the caverns.

One of the things Toady (armok be with him) is going to add (eventually) is ocean people. it's been discussed so often, and he will get round to it eventually.

I agree with Urist. Steampunk is like Darth Vader winning Holland's Next Top Model. It would be awesome but not something I'd like in this game.
Unfortunately dying involves the amputation of the entire body from the dwarf.

In a few years maybe, because other things are coming.

Also, start by releasing entities and creatures, and the mod will be rolling really fast. Did you do anything yet?

Oh he'll yes. This is going to be good.
I hope you don't mind but I borrowed your 'sanity' organ idea for a mod I'm working on. Don't worry, it's only going to use the concept.

Im currently working on making some of the Great Old Ones as unique megabeasts, a few of them are going to be reactions rather than creatures, Azathoth will be done this way and he will be deadly.

This will be awesome. Just don't make it -too- absurd, after all, the human races can survive for a long time before the Old Ones inevitably return...and if you die within 30 minutes of making a fort, it won't be any fun.

Hmmm...

So, are you're going with the Azathoth == Atomic Bomb thing?

Never did like that interpretation...

Reactions?

To a certain degree, it probably makes sense.  After all, most of the Old Ones were summoned in some way...  Combine 12 virgins with a sacrificial dagger and some chanting, and you'll get a shoggoth or something.

But some authors have interpreted some of the Old Ones as powers or abilities, rather than actual entities.  Nyarlathotep, for example, became telepathy.  And Shub-Niggurath became genetic engineering.  And Azathoth became atomic power.

So you'd have a reaction where you did something with pitchblende and got Azathoth (an atomic bomb).

Considering that Lovecraft described Azathoth as "nuclear chaos" prior to the discovery of nuclear fission, it does seem rather unlikely that that's what he meant.

Yog-Sothoth is blatantly a hindu deity called Vishnu. Aside from the Lovecraftian dose of good ol' cosmic horror, if you actually follow the whole dream cycle (which is basically the epilogue to the mythos, as far as I'm concerned) you find out that all the intellectuals, the dreamers and the poets are bored aspects of Yog-Sothoth, who forgets who he is and lives lives because he's bored. It was all pretty much ripped verbatim out of hindu myths, which goes to show how absurdly educated Lovecraft was more then a half-century before any -concept- of the internet. Hell, most people alive now wouldn't know the stuff he knew.

Btw. I didn't know a reaction COULD make a creature. Is this true now? Since when?

He isnt a literal nuke, he is just like a nuke in his destructive power, he is going to be extremely hot and going to cause some syndromes.

Maybe I should add a male and female visionary caste to humans, they will be called "humans" in game but they will have more creativity and stuff.
Also I was going to make a Yithian caste for all races.
