Lightspeed wagons
« on: December 15, 2007, 01:55:00 pm »

After the human wagons departed, I watched one of the wagons blaze across the map. If I had temperature enabled, there should have been twin trails of !!yellow sand!!.

Notice that the second wagon moves at a relatively normal pace.

Skip to halfway. I didn't exactly know what I was doing and this is the first movie I've ever recorded. I just knew that this was a perfect movie moment, though.

Wow, you must have put the fear of Armok into those dwarfs.

Do you have a save with this?  I don't think I'll be able to do anything about it without one.

I think I just cried a little.

I don't have a save for this, it happened a tad too quickly. But I don't mind if this is left in, it's quite funny and doesn't break the game in any way.

Colonel Sandurz: Prepair ship for light speed.
Dark Helmet: No, no, no. Light speed is too slow.
Colonel Sandurz: Light speed is too slow?
Dark Helmet: Yes. We're gonna have go right to... ludicrous speed.

I kinda like these blitzkrieg wagons.  It'll add some interesting story events for forts that have them.

Onol Matkubuk, Merchant: "Umm, why is this depot connected to solid ground only by a very nearrow bridge?"
Adil Sakrithkeskal, Axedwarf: "Sir, I have heard that some caravans never return from this place."
.....
Onol Matkubuk, Merchant:  "Oh dear Armok!  It's a trap!! Everybody run for their lives!!"

I vote call this bug a feature, unless it's causing other problems.    :D

I had yet another rocketing wagon. Skip to the last ten seconds, I was anticipating a fast wagon a bit too early. I have a save for while the wagons are arriving:

The video was taken while the wagons were leaving. The first one shoots off the map while the other seems to crawl in comparison. I wonder if I'm seeing this because I'm using Linux, since I've not heard anyone else reporting such occurrences. Still, I find it hilarious.

I just had one of two Human wagons rocket in. It raced across my screen into the depot at at least 10x the speed of anything else while the other wagon took its usual time. I'm running 28.181.40c on Vista. I tried to reproduce this issue by returning to my seasonal backup, but it didn't occur again.

Now if they would only move that fast on the way in...

The runaway wagon runs into Urist McRoadkill!
Urist McRoadkill has been run over and killed.
The runaway wagon strikes the iron floodgate!
The iron floodgate is destroyed!
The runaway wagon has died in the heat.

It happened again. I have a save file that can reproduce the problem.

S-S-S-SUPER NECRO

Seriously, this is a fairly old thread. Better than reposting though. I'm curious to see how something like this has carried over into the most recent version. Is the wagon legendary?
