Missile bases are subtly better than lazer bases, since the missile bases are ELEVATED. They are hard to get into, yes, but they shoot over terrain far more effectively than lazer bases.

Now then, I'm interested in allying with the Starborn Dominion. I'll see if I can get in touch with you guys next time I'm on. Once we're in contact, I'll see if I can start shipping you guys some very high-q fuel.

Also, what general TL is the SD at?

I realized from chatting in game earlier that I might have been hoarding a building secret without realizing it (thought it was common knowledge).

When building stuff manually, click build once and hold down enter. Enter will press build when the mouse is over it and the window is selected, and holding it down will make it press it in rapid succession. It lets you build VERY quickly without giving you carpal tunnel from all the mouse clicking. Also good for manually producing cryozine.

I was just using autohotkey and 1 keypress to 100 mouseclicks, but this works too!

Oh nice Paul, I was thinking on using a macro or something.
I built a 'leveled' volcano colony, and every road slab tile needed 500 labor or more, and all I did was click. Argh.

And about the fortress cities, I had thought about it this week, was wanting to test it later on.
I think it would be a nice idea for high value colonies, like capitols.

Also as I said earlier, we can't say in public places which TL we are, since I KNOW people lurk around looking for intel.
Last round people even found our 'secret' forum and IRC, so I'm pretty defensive about information now..heh

I'd previously been going into 'fly' mode, and then bashing on the mouse button with my index and middle fingers on my left hand for added speed, banging out build on whatever squares I happened to fly over, occasionally steering with the keyboard.

My new race does not have flying though which makes me SAD because...no automated movement.

I wonder if I can do something similar in a motorbike, if they go slow enough...

Ugh...I'm at work and my instinct is still to ctrl-alt-del whenever I see the resize cursor come up.

Has anyone ever found any work-around for that?  Does it happen on all OSes and all configurations, or is it just a very very small subset of users?  I mean, I'm on XP; is it all XP users or is there something else going on?  It used to only happen sometimes for me, but it's always now.

(And it even locked up my whole machine hard once.)

Happens most to me when I have GIMP open and running blender in the background as well (and closing them after causes recurring issues to diminish), so its probably game memory issues.

I find that it actually can recover from resize arrow syndrome with time. Try to run only the game and nothing else.

There's been some noise on the forum about having "Red" and "Blue" empires for wargames. There might be a sector set aside for various battles, maybe a ringworld with colonies for both sides to do some land skirmishes.

Anyone in on this?

PS: We could even have a third empire that blows up ships that try to leave the sector so people couldn't steal the R/B ships to go on rampages.

It used to happen to me a lot when I was on XP, also locked up my computer once.
Now I'm on Windows 7 and that never happened again, but thanks for reminding me of the terrible time it was when I had to ctrl-alt-del every 10 minutes or so
