Well, if SD doesn't take you, I could :P...
I need people anyway. It's getting too big to manage everything by myself.
You should abandon hope and join my empire. We're small while still maintaining more players than most.

And there's a big problem here.  Let's say you want to keep supplying a central planet from some outlying ones.  Every trip you make, you're going to lose money!  If you want to be nice and support your capital, you are going to go broke.  You need supplimental income...and I can't figure out a way to do that.

I've made at least 35 million credits so far with an automated trading ship. Are you sure the tax rates (particularly subsidy tax) isn't set too high to make a profit, and that the colonies you are selling to are actually consuming the resources faster than you bring more of them? E.G. If you were bringing eludium, it should be getting turned into grav coils and those should be getting used to make spaceships. If that's not happening, then of course things are going to get backed up.

You could always have the colony make bombs (which take a huge amount of components to make, but free to buy in subsidized ships), and import some of the required resources from another system... If they somehow end up with too many bombs to make more, you can just buy a ton of them in your ship (for free!), and go dump them somewhere.

Note: This is not how I made my money. I've been trading a resource which is being consumed constantly.

That bombs thing sounds like a pretty nice scam.

It's the "consumed constantly" thing that I have an issue with.  Okay, the eludium is being made into grav coils, but then what?  How many ships are you BUILDING?  How many do you honestly need, and what do you do with the ones you don't want...just throw them into the sun?

Wow.  Government subsidies at their finest.

Couldn't you just design a massive ship that requires thousands of grav couplings and let them put what they get into building it?

Depends on the size of your empire and how frequently people build ships (in case of eludium).
Also, as in real life, you just can't fly 6 minutes, buy 3 tons of eludium, fly back in 6 minutes, and sell it again hoping to get the same profit margin.

When setting an auto trade ship, you should use wait orders. Let's say, 10 minutes if you are 3 jumps (depends on wormhole distance, let's say it's a 3~5 minutes trip in a 500m/s ship).
That way you've given time for the resources to be used by industry, and you'll have profit again.

It's all on the demand, and one of easy ways to make huge amounts of money is buying Cryo Heatsinks and selling it on a planet which produces Power Armor.
Do that and tell me again that you couldn't make a huge profit.
And please don't sell to a place that is fully supplied...lol

I'd say that armor/power armor and guns would be a good trade setup, mainly because troops tend to get eaten, therefore neccessitating shipments of new equipment. Food and alcohol are constantly consumed, but it's done too slowly to be of any real profit(mind you, I was doing it with a small colony). Assuming you're not using solar, wind, or hydro(gen or ocean water) electicity, fuel can be shipped(but unfortunately each of those fuels have limited other use).

On a different note, I'm finding PTMC's reaction to the latest patches pretty funny.

This newest patch (just now) just screwed up ship TL again, by calculating the TL requirement for beds by counting the total number of crew, passenger, and troop berths and determining the TL based on that, rather than the total number of the highest one of them. As a result, a ship I was designing just jumped 7 TLs - also affecting whether existing ship designs can even be built or what TL they would be.

I think I'll just log back out until they post a changelog, because finding random things changed which break your stuff, with no warning and no documentation of what was supposed to have changed, isn't exactly fun.

Lmfao they did that? lol
Well, at least it'll make sense to make passenger transports and troop transports, instead of just a hueg warship that has it all.

It's frustrating because this game is SO COOL, so revolutionary, and I'm constantly discovering new ways that it kicks ass ("Wait, you can actually go inside the missile tower?  And it has a laser gun pointed through the front door?  AWESOME") and yet they are completely outnumbered by the broken things.  It's like a Flaming Homer, except you're not allowed to put it out before you drink it.  Some things like the network code, the crashy renderer, and the cracked-out UI feel like they needs to be completely rewritten from the ground up.  I would NEVER play any other game that locks up my graphics card and makes me ctrl-alt-del literally every ten seconds.

Changelog's up.  Mouse sensitivity is fixed, WOOHOO!

Also, this is lollerskates:
Quote from: Death Over Airless Bases Bug Fixed
A bug was fixed that occasionally caused ships or vehicles to be destroyed due to atmospheric stress when flying over a city on an airless world. The problem turned out to be bases, which seemed to think their pressurized column of air reached all the way to orbit.

Lol yes, I never died because I only vertical slowly over my cities, but people who did die must have got very pissed off at their random atmospheric stress death on moons.
