Well, Australia is like, your second closest military allie? Maybe first? How in Canada these days, still agreeable? So either way, by going to war with us, you lose a great allie. I don't think the actual value of each currency unit relative to each other matters too much.  I mean, it's 129 yen to a pound, and the yen is currently really strong (to the extent that it's hurting Japan's export market).  It's more the change in them and differences in purchasing power.

The labour gov in the uk had a maxim, that a deficit is not a problem if have you have the ability to pay it back, i guess the US will test this maxim, or start austerity measures like europe come next government.
