Well, Australia is like, your second closest military allie? Maybe first? How in Canada these days, still agreeable? So either way, by going to war with us, you lose a great allie. Then the rest of the commonwealth is meant to bail us out. And china depends on our exports, so they won't be very happy with you. True, if you wanted our nice metals we might get hurt, but were no middle eatern tribe.

It's kind of funny you didn't even mention our complete lack of anything resembling a military strong enough to conquer Australia, we might take sydney for a day and thats it.

I don't think the actual value of each currency unit relative to each other matters too much.  I mean, it's 129 yen to a pound, and the yen is currently really strong (to the extent that it's hurting Japan's export market).  It's more the change in them and differences in purchasing power.

you have deficit thats 10% of GDP, ha

and i thought ours (UK) was bad.

The labour gov in the uk had a maxim, that a deficit is not a problem if have you have the ability to pay it back, i guess the US will test this maxim, or start austerity measures like europe come next government.

Na, here is the US our politicians are still making deals of 'Okay, you will pass our spending increases so long as we pass your tax decreases.' /facepalm
