Oh great, and I had a 3 day weekend.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Fortunately I have a 2.5 day weekend next week, so I'll do it then.

Do I have 72 hours, or until Sunday afternoon?

(I live on the East Coast)

Gentlemen, I have encountered a problem.

That's white sand and sandy clay loam. Pines are represented by o's with the ^ over it. Obviously, someone has used a tileset and fucked up the visuals for those of us without it. Unless someone can offer me a quick fix, I'm going to do something else. I really wanted to do this, but now I can't because I'll end up gouging out my eyes.

I applaud your diligence. Unfortunately I can't put up with them, or any tilesets. Especially tilesets that make walls horizontal.

Ok , I got the ground normal again. Trees are still off, as are the vermin. I'm going to try and fix those tomorrow. Also, I took my turn, I'll upload in 3 days ;)

Imagine a cool peice of sky-blue and milk-white marble about 3cm by 2cm and by 0.5cm, containing a tiny 2mm malacolite crystal. Now imagine the miles of metamorphic rock it's embedded in that no pick or chisel will ever touch. Then, imagine that those miles will melt back into their mantle long before any telescope even refracts an image of their planet. The watchers will be so excited to have that image too.

I approve of this project, sadly I have no time to build and submit a fortress.
I've downloaded the save and explored one ruin so far (frozentombs) which has been great fun.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Anyhow I wanted to post a link to a very interesting topic (see below)  because it has some new tricks and techniques that can be very usefull for our efforts here. Apparently Langdon has figured out a way to retire your fortress instead of abandoning it (using dfhack and other tools). This way the fortress will act as a normal mountain home/village in adventure mode, your dwarves will still be around, and recognize it as their home. You can retire adventurers there and do all the other stuff. Very cool.

Apparently you can also stop items from being scattered all over your fortress after you abandon/ retire it.

I'll probably grab the world tomorrow, if no one ahead of me wants it.

mine was a massive tantrum spiral of death awesome leading to cave-in levers being pulled and the entire fortress sealed off by miles and miles of solid rock
