I could see these being used in meat mass production businesses, but I don't think it will cause the remaining small business butcheries to vanish.  We buy all of our meat from a family operated meat market, and the only way these machines could make that go away is if they somehow caused grocery store meat to taste better.

So my crundles are staying intact unless they're newly spawned... until they are exposed to anything that isn't at room temperature.  This mostly seems to mean blood, specifically, their own.  Then they go poof very quickly.

Okay, so, today this girl I know-Lauren, just took a sudden dis-interest in talking to me. Is she just on her period or something?

I dunno, this looks pretty useful.  It's not really a replacement for butchers so much as a replacement for one part of the ham preparing process, but it could have a lot more potential later on.

I don't think the luddite argument can really hold much water anymore...

Thirty years from now everyone's going to have a mini version of these in their kitchens.

And connected to the Internet, without the proper patches.

Hmm...

Well, with adequate driver support they could be a multi-purpose cutting-edge (rimshot) robot, like so:

In the days when Sussman was a novice, Minsky once came to him as he sat hacking at the PDP-6.
“What are you doing?”, asked Minsky. “I am training a randomly wired neural net to play Tic-Tac-Toe” Sussman replied. “Why is the net wired randomly?”, asked Minsky. “I do not want it to have any preconceptions of how to play”, Sussman said.
Minsky then shut his eyes. “Why do you close your eyes?”, Sussman asked his teacher.
“So that the room will be empty.”
At that moment, Sussman was enlightened.

Let us pray they never roll back drivers to a previous version.

Indeed, it seems that they have forgotten that humans are soft, irregularly-shaped objects.
Yeah, we are well on the way to Killbots. Or at least Remorseless Evidence Disposal Bots.

Luckily the arm only reaches so far. As long as the Japanese don't attach tank treads to this thing our soldiers will be fine in WWIII.

Hmm... well, the first serious "killbots" are already at use in Afghanistan and Pakistan.  Although they aren't autonomous, which I suppose makes all the difference...
