When you make adventure mode, whats your favorite skillset?

I made a habit of making a swordsman that was averaged out around all his defensive skills, offensive skills, and misc. skills like swimming. They always took about 15 hits to kill an unarmored human.
This one time, I made an adventurer with all his points in fighting and striking. He took out 8 people with one-hit-kills to the head, and could knock someone unconscious by punching their hand. (he died to a luck-shot, but so does everyone else.)

What kind of skills/attributes do you give your adventurers?

Well, Probably a fighter/kicker/puncher like you said, or a Biter/Wrestler.

Mining.

Specifically, mining juicy monster brains out of their heads. Since it can't be bought it must be trained up the hard way.

A good few levels in Fighter, Shield User and Dodger helps with that, meaning even a Dabbling Miner can go toe-to-toe with bandits and common wildlife. I add in a few levels of Thrower or Archer/Marksdwarf to help early on too. I usually like to take Adequate Swimmer.

Knife and shield: next most manly thing to bare limbs and biting, but easier to case fatal damage with.

Ninja: thrower, dodger, ambusher, misc. object user with a quiver full of whatever is available, usually bolts, arrows, and a spear.

You sever EVERYTHING! Arms, legs, heads, lower bodies.
