Death to Parapalegics (or however you spell it)
« on: December 29, 2010, 11:13:12 am »

EDIT:

ok now after finding my dwarf incapable of LIFE he must die in a dwarvenly fashion so send in some suggestions on how we go about this business
include: what, how, and a way in which we can move urist to his rather timely death

Original:

ok so back with more questions.

1. my secretive mooded craftzdwarf is itchin' for some skeletons but all i have are partial elephant skeletons, can i somehow use these? or turn them into a usuable skeleton?

2. after killing three oliphaunts my swordsdwarf got his spine fractured, will he be able to walk again? also if not should i just euthanise him and  lay him in his MASSIVE and overly elaborate tomb?

Butchering animals at a butchers shop usually gives bones which is what mr Crazy is asking for.

If his nerves got damaged then he won't walk again without cheating. Otherwise the damage might heal enough.

ok for numero uno i did exactly that and he has created a r*****ed cow-bone bracelet

for numero dos, it says:

Lower Spine Bone:
Compound fracture
Smashed apart

Lower Spine Nervous Tissue:
Compound fracture
cut apart

im 87% sure he's paralyzed but i want to be 100% percent before i introduce him to Armok

hmm, well the odds are stacked, he has apparently recovered from unconsisnous which lasted 5 months so i feel kinda bad.

but on the other hand for !!Science!! we SHOULD see if a thousand z-level fall kills an injured patient

Make sure to equip him in cotton candy so he doesn't explode on impact.

I dunno, I get attached to my dwarves, especially the ones who receive battle wounds. I had a dwarf who had saved several civilians get knocked down by a nerve slice.  He was confined to a hospital bed for the rest of the fort, but the way I saw it, he shared his tales of battle with all the people who would come and chat with him, as well as motivate all the whiners with broken hands that they had it easy and needed to get back into action!  If anyone deserved to be euthanized, it was the civilians who had trouble listening to a burrow command and had to be rescued.

That's a shame, I was going to vote that his living body be donated to Dwarven medicine. Being repeatedly broken and fixed to bring your medical practitioners legendary status.

Feel free. I recommend building drop chambers next to each other with retracting bridges. Start at 2z, 3z, maybe even 4. Some thorough testing is definitely needed.
