Reactions using Blood?
« on: December 28, 2010, 04:09:54 pm »

Hey all. Quick question here.

What kind of reactions can be done using blood?

I wanna see if there is any merit to it other than being spurted out of elves.

Well in theory you could, if i'm correct, use blood as a reagent in any reaction. But how you get the blood to the workshop, or pick it up if you're an adventurer, would be a problem.
Seriously the only time i got blood that wasn't on the ground is when elves brought me barrels of tiger/lion/jaguar/cheetah blood.

I don't know about reactions, but you can open the material templates file, find the blood template, and add [PLANT_ALCOHOL] to it, and your dwarves should be able to drink it. :)

Only things I have been able to come up with are:

Making a reaction that takes a corpse to drain blood from it in the form of a solid glob. From that you could make blood pudding, perform hedious rituals and whatnot. You can make blood furniture as long as the stuff is solid. Small problem is that reaction could use the same corpse over and over again untill it rots.

The above, only with butchery yielding the blood. This would require some weird tissue made of blood.

I make Grimlocke's History & Realism Mods. Its got poleaxes, sturdy joints and bloomeries. Now compatible with DF Revised!

That's a cool idea. Sorta what I was looking for. I cam up with a workaround though: will just have the maker "sacrifice" himself to create a blood-enriched item (blood-iron/etc). Products will be the blood-enriched stuff and a few bars of lethal rock that explodes into poison gas.

It's a bit late, but how about making some form of 'brewing' reaction?

Corpse + Barrel = Barrel full of blood (how much is up to you) and bones if you wish!

I doubt it is possible, but I wish we could mod blood so that it act like water (can have depth and flow if there is enough of it in one place)?

I don't think that is at all possible, and that it will be possible anytime in the near future  :(

EDIT:

I can't figure out how to get blood for a product...

Code: [Select]
[REACTION:FILL_BUCKET_WITH_BLOOD]
    [NAME:fill bucket with blood]
    [REAGENT:A:1:BUCKET:NONE:NONE:NONE][EMPTY][PRESERVE_REAGENT]
    [REAGENT:B:1:NONE:NONE:NONE:NONE:NONE][USE_BODY_COMPONENT][UNROTTEN]
    [PRODUCT:100:10:LIQUID_MISC:NONE:GET_MATERIAL_FROM_REAGENT:B:BLOOD][PRODUCT_TO_CONTAINER:A]
    [SKILL:BUTCHER]
    [ADVENTURE_MODE_ENABLED]

BLOOD cannot be used for an ITEM or for a MATERIAL, yet doesn't produce any errors when used as a MATERIAL_SUBTYPE..

Any idea's anyone?
