Stand up and examine whatever was behind door 7 without going in.
(4)you stand upi but the door is just a portal and seeing from this side is impossible.

The other side? Does it just warp back to the house? what is the other side?

Well let me think here. Is there anything you specifically cannot do? A place you cannot go near, or a door you can't open?

Walk carefully through the portal. Walk back through at the first sign of trouble.

(5)"I cannot go near the door in the basement."

(4)you walk through and on the other side is a dark temple of some kind, shrouded figures move quietly around.

Attempt to turn into one of the figures. Or, at the very least, try to disguise myself as one.

Right. Get the key. Open the door to the basement. Examine basement and the door.

Walk into the temple. Try to walk at the same rate as the figures.

Right. Get the key. Open the door to the basement. Examine basement and the door.
(3)You go to the attic but it is also locked.

Walk into the temple. Try to walk at the same rate as the figures.
(4)you walk into the temple and come to pass a large statue that glares and turns to watch you.
