Adventurer Skills?
« on: December 28, 2010, 03:00:42 am »

So, if anyone has a better idea of what the individual skills actually do in adventurer mode, I'd appreciate some info. The ones I'm curious about are:

Fighter: I know this helps me fight.. But how? Higher chance to hit? More parrying?

Any Weapon Skill: I'm thinking this helps me land hits with the weapon, but does it also help parrying? How is it different from Fighter? Are the two redundant?

The wiki has info on all skills.

The "fighter" is a general skill (like other weapon skills but for all types of weapons). The higher your weapon skills is, the higher is the chance to parry with the said weapon.

So does this mean that if I have a high enough weapon skill in a specific weapon, I don't need the fighter skill? Or is it still necessary for some sort of underlying bonus?

Yes, but that's not likely to happen given Fighter goes up every time you attack or are attacked while a weapon skill only goes up when you attack with that weapon, and thus not nearly as fast.

The reason I ask is that, given the points-allocation system of skills at the beginning of Adventurer mode, I may be wasting points by putting them into fighter rather than the weapon skill I like.

Well, since higher skill levels cost more per level, wouldn't it be most efficient to evenly distribute the points to the two skills?

Higher skill levels also take more experience points to get.  I generally skip fighter and wrestler entirely and mostly buy shield, dodging and armor use.  You can wrestle monkeys or groundogs to death for several fighter/wrestler levels each.  Attacking them with wooden training weapons doesn't work quite as well but its safer then real fighting and the targets usually last longer.
