Before I start, how do I scale down pictures so they are not uber-massive?

I use a program called GIMP which is a free picture editing program. One of the menu items is Image->Scale, where you set the pixel width you want and it does the rest. Paintshop Pro has a similar feature, as do the big name programs.

They also have a handy feature called Crop To Selection, that whacks off everything outside what you've got selected. This is one feature that GIMP does better than the rest, because you can push around the sides of the selection box, making it bigger, smaller, longer, taller -- get it just right.

Monthly Diary of MrNuke: 1st Granite, Early Spring

I have no idea what is going on in terms of power. I mean, the fortress was going fine, then a year later, some guy comes up to me and says I am the new leader! Well, I am not going to say no, since there are a whole ton of things that need to be done to this fort. Even if my legendery blacksmithing doesn't help at all...

So the first thing we have to do is to turn this place into a FORTRESS. I mean, look, we have our entryway completly open to enemy attack!

I am going to fix that.

I also plan on finding magma, since we are still using charcoal and coke. I am glad we do have to look because the fortress is not very deep. This place only goes 2 levels down. Time to expand!

Monthly Diary of MrNuke: 3rd Slate, Mid-Spring

Apart from clearing land outside, it has been rather uneventful, apart from THIS!

They increased our population from 21 to FOURTY! Jeeze. Time to carve out more rooms, beds, and doors...

Oh yes, and that possesed legendary weaver is bound to die soon...

Monthly Diary of MrNuke: 2nd Felsite, Late Spring

Quite a few things have been happening recently. Starting off...
Spoiler: Weaver Status (click to show/hide)
Well there goes our greatest weaver ever...

Also, the front fort is starting to take shape, getting walls ready and a soon-to-be-road
Spoiler: Front Fort (click to show/hide)

Last main thing is that bedrooms for all the migrants are nearly done...
Spoiler: Bedrooms (click to show/hide)
Those migrants are pretty darned skilled, so lets show them some respect.

On a side note, I am preparing an archer squad, so i have been turning some of the hides into quivers, bones into cheap crossbows, and logs into bolts.

Hey whatever works. Lookin' forward to it. Also:
a). I feel bad that I didn't mention the moody weaver. Not sure anything could have been done in time though.
b). Another way to shrink pictures in DF is to mouse-wheel zoom out, and then take a screen shot of that.

Monthly Diary of MrNuke: 1st Granite, Early Spring

I have recieved confirmation about a true and real leader coming to replace me. That is ok, as I think I have completed what I have set out to do. Here are the major things I have done.

Front Entrance is now secure and ready, with walls, drawbridge and a 3 story high crossbow tower.

However, if you can see closly, I sketched a G there. Thats because...

We killed it with our poorly equiped military though...

Also to do with military, I have a small crossbow squad, filled with bone crossbows, wooden arrows, and quivers.

THEY DONT WANT TO FRACKEN TRAIN THOUGH!

I almost got hailed as a hero for this, I discovered the magma sea, along with adamantine.

Those are the major things, as for minor things.
- Burial ground filled with about 30 tombs.
- Large masses of bedrooms, all of which are smoothed
- 3 Caverns discovered, all contaning HEAPS of water.
- Tons of successful moods, causing lots of people to be legendary in different things
- Population Increased to 54

Things that need to be done.
- Relocate all smelters to magma sea
- Create a proper area for workshops (They are still hanging around in random spots)
- Build a hospital
- Get the glass industry up
- GET THOSE FRACKEN MARKSDORFS TO TRAIN!
- Get Proper weapons for the Military, sorry I didn't make any.
- Build more bedrooms, Yeah, i know.
- Expand Meeting hall, it only fits twelve people.

That is all from me. I am MrNuke, signing off.

filiusenox has not responded to PMs and hasn't posted any intent to play, so we're skipping over him for now. I believe he's currently got his hands full with another fort in the Fill Up The World thread.

So Dr.Ninja, it's your turn.

Ok filiusenox it's your turn, and Don Blake good luck with your computer.

Just to keep the ball rolling though, if no fortress is uploaded in four days, it will be the next player's turn.
