Update 5X-COM Commander’s Log – Robert Steinbach - March 8 2084; 2155hThe scientists finished their research on one of the UFOs.
The UFO appears to be some sort of unmanned probe, and its interior is almost completely solid. The outer skin of the craft isn’t the only biological part – the whole thing appears to be flesh-like, except for the beam weapon which is metallic in nature. More worryingly, the ship does not bear any trace whatsoever of any known alien technology utilized by the Ethereals, and given its travel through a dimension gate, does not appear to originate from Ethereal space. Could this be a new, completely alien empire?
X-COM Commander’s Log – Robert Steinbach - March 9 2084; 1430hFirstly, Psyke demanded reparations for the damage we caused to their property. Given that we looted nearly 25 thousand in Psiclones, their demand is puny in comparison. Anyway, I paid them, if only to keep them off my back for the time being. They appear to be willing to overlook the loss of Marsec weapons – perhaps because they weren’t supposed to have them in the first place.
Also, one of the soldiers brought up the point that Marsec supplied those weapons to oppose Megapol. By giving the gangs superior weaponry, they would gain more business from other gangs as well as from private citizens protecting their property, but they would be run out of Mega-Primus if the government found out about it. There isn’t much we can do about ‘investigating’ Marsec right now, seeing as they’re better equipped and more experience than our soldiers. Besides, they’re our weapons suppliers. Making them enemies would not be a good option.
Also, the biologists finished their research of the alien weapon. There isn’t much to say about this one, apart from the fact that it appears to be completely biological, even down to the ammunition, which are those yellow creatures dubbed “brainsuckers”.
The biochemists don’t have alien specimens to research, so they’re slacking around now.
X-COM Commander’s Log – Robert Steinbach - March 9 2084; 2255hThe physicists finished researching the other alien craft as well.
Again, the craft is composed of mainly biological matter. However, whatever alien intelligence controlling the craft appears to have built in selfdestruct devices, turning much of the inside to slush.
There is now nothing else to research too, and so the physicists are loafing around like the biochemists.
There hasn’t been any alien activity since the incursion three days ago. Perhaps they’ve given up?
