Nooo, stream that please! And give me a list of mods (just the list) please! :D

I just finished recording the first official Livestream Stress-Test of Modded Oblivion, and it turned into a 55 minute demo of some of the new features I'm playing with. If you want to watch it, be careful; the game audio was way too high, though it got a bit better once I got to the Ayelid Ruin. There was some great Bandit combat in the last 1/4 too, but a pity how it ended.

Has anyone ever come across Tamriel Rebuilt?
It's an attempt to expand/change the game area so some new places can be visited. It's been in development quite a while now, started off just for Morrowind but they started working on Oblivion too. With Morrowind I think it's trying to expand the game beyond Vvardenfell so all of Morrowind can be explored. I think the Oblivion one was abandoned, but the Morrowind one may still be going on.

It is still going on. If I remember correctly they should be working on the third map now (the first is semi-complete - pretty much everything but the main quest for the area is done; the second has landscapes/dungeons/some settlements but no quests, and the third's being made). It was pretty good when I played it. The "inland" (if one can call them that) Telvanni cities are amazing.

I finally got Nehrim working, and while I'm impressed that a group of people would go through so much effort to make a game, the plot is a little underwhelming.  So far I'm enjoying it more than Oblivion, though, since they have a good sense of giving you a little tiny bit at a time, making you want more.  I didn't like how rigid (And often pointless) some things were, but again, Oblivion was worse at that.  The developers of Nehrim just haven't learned to avoid putting large, neon arrows pointing out the problems when you do something they didn't expect, something Bethesda did a fairly good job at.

I feel like I have the DM from DM of the Rings (At the moment), but it's fun.  I have to give the makers props for putting so much effort into it.

I like minigames.  :x  They help me remember that I'm actually, you know, playing a game instead of reading a book that you need to walk from place to place in.

This highlights a more drastic and fundamental issue with the game in case's design.

A game being like reading a book isn't the problem, so long as it's a good book and you're not railroaded.

Yeaaaah, minigames are cool 'n all, it's just when they don't make sense that they suck.  Like the lockpick minigame, I really can't complain about that, I mean, you are picking a lock and all, but when you talk to someone there are no little bars and a wheel involved.  My only complaint about lockpick minigame usage is that it was so easy it made the lockpick skill redundant (Minigames are one area Beth improved in FO3, so I suspect that won't happen again)

Was it a legitimate lockpick minigame ala Thief or a shitty lockpick minigame ala New Vegas?

I have heard that some found it punishingly difficult and others really easy, actually.  I found it so easy I could have lockpick still like 15 and still have no problem with very hard locks (Okay maybe I'd break like 3 picks)
I dunno, you get like an entire half second to click, just listen for the noise, and more importantly for me, watch to see if it catches.

It comes somewhere in between your Thief lockpicking and FO3 picking, I think.

There are two tumbler speeds:  Slow and fast.  If it's slow, click it.  If it's fast, don't click it.  If you can't tell, don't click it.  There is absolutely no other pattern.  If you need help recognizing which is which, the slow tumbler movements have more distinct clicks--it's more clearly two noises instead of one.

Once you can recognize slow and fast tumblers, you will basically never fail a single Oblivion lock ever again unless you just get impatient.

The only thing your Security skill affects is the chances of a slow tumbler, and Mastery level influences the tumblers that drop back down after a failure. Even with bottom-level Security, you can easily get slow tumblers on Very Hard locks. Might be why so many locks are "Requires a key".

Oh locked doors.  That reminds me of another thing I hate about Oblivion.  "Let's put a door in the game that leads nowhere until they buy our DLC!"
