If you don't believe it is that bad, go watch a Disney show aimed at teens; count the number of times they overlay an 'audience laughing' sound effect over it and compare it to how many times you actually found something funny and not merely pants-on-head-retarded. It's so ridiculously cynical I find it rather disturbing...

Have two kids and a 16 yr old sister.  Have had plenty of Disney exposure over the last few years.  It's not all that bad... but most of it is.

So, if I may summarize: The main statement is that he's being attacked since he's owned as a cash-cow slave by the respective media cooperates.

Isn't that true for most of the pop-stars? So that means persons, who are working for hated cooperates, are outlawed?

Even if he's that cash-cow(agree here): Anyways, he's qualities that a considerable amount of people like. Now you can say those folks are dumb - then you judge also that people.

I keep my original statement: The reasons mentioned here are valid but I think for at least a considerable amount of people they are excuses to attack him since they envy him, because he has success

I'm far too egotistical to envy him.  :P

Yep, although for most it is to a much lesser extent as far as the cynical corporatism is concerned. That said, I have similar feelings about most pop stars. It all falls into the same category as bad cable TV shows which pander to the lowest common denominator. Generally the idea of this comic: http://dresdencodak.com/2010/12/15/spike-guest-comic/

Ya I pretty much hate mainstream pop in general.  I can't stand cheap, shallow, supposed-to-be-art.  I know almost nothing about Bieber, honestly, and have never heard a second of his music... but I know where he fits in the music scene.  I feel the same way about him as I do Britney Spears, Lady Gaga, Miley Cyrus, N'Sync, etc.  People I know who are fans of this stuff know how I feel about it, too.

Success does have something to do with it, though.  I don't envy it.  I despise how much of it he has compared to real artists who write their own music, push creative boundaries, write lyrics with depth and honesty, etc, but just don't have lowest common denominator appeal, aren't attractive enough, or have massive corporate marketing campaigns behind them.

Edit:  A little perspective.  Pink Floyd is one of the most successful bands of all time.  How much hate do they get?  Maybe a little for being popular with stoners.  That's all I've ever seen.  I've never seen anyone fault their integrity, their artistry, or that they earned and deserved their success.

Edit Edit:  Appropriate lyric   :D

I dunno. I just don't like him for some reason.

Something about looking at his teen idol prettyboy face just makes me CRUSH KILL MURDER DESTROY!! RRRAAAAAAAHHHH!!!!

Not sure why, though :-\. Judging from the comments left on the Hatsune Miku/Vocaloid videos(which have lots of Bieber-hate), being a Miku fan might have something to do with it. Perhaps liking one artificial singing sensation creates a conditional process in the brain that generates homicidal rage towards every other artifical singer. Or maybe just at Bieber.

I dislike his rabid fanbase.

Agreed. I hate ANY rabid fanbase really. Even the one around the game this very site is based on. You get that nutty and well, you stop seeming well. Reasonable. Or likable.
Touhou.

A shame he got so popular. If he was just mildly popular then he wouldn't have so much hate directed at him. A usual the fans ruin it.

Go look at any of the "Communitys" especially the english speaking ones. Full of annoying Canon/fanon elitism. Don't talk if you don't know.

I'm at work, and appreciate having a topic to distract myself with every once in a while.

He has had an amount of success disproportionate to the quality of his work, and the rabid fanbase attacks everyone who thinks otherwise. Just like Twilight, but more so.

I'm not sure what point you are trying to get across here, but I will admit that I really have only seen one community for it. And no, I didn't see any difference between them and the fangirls of the Beiber fandom. Except perhaps a bit more artistically talented, and a lot creepier.

If I was sixteen and offered this chance, I would take it.

I wouldn't.
The last thing I need, is being famous.

I dunno... they wouldn't offer to make you famous at first, right?  Just to do a bit of recording.  I'd probably accept.

Looks more like "I like you kid. We'll make you rich and famous, regardless if you have talent or not" to me, judging by all those casting-shows and whatnot.
