And don't forget, a lot of desert islands don't have any sources of fresh water without digging a well!  Unless we are lucky and find a spring.

Most important thing is probably water, if a cooler washed up we have very temporary food resources.

((Oh, and I don't think it's a full beach island, if it were we would all undoubtedly die of starvation))

Beach island if you read it means that all of the coastline of the Island is beach, this means that it lacks no rise on the edge...

So, we're on a desert island, presumably tropical (Unless it's a tundra or volcanic?  That would be new, and I can't find examples of temperate or arid islands)
Usually islands either go from beach to forest or beach to cliff, fields near the beach is something I've not heard of, nor seen, I think it's possible though, albeit rare, so I won't argue...

I've actually based the island on a particular real island. Where, I'm not telling, but I assure you, it goes Beach, Grassland/Shrubland, Trees. The particular island in question used to be part of a much larger land mass before said land mass suffered some sort of disaster and most of the area was flooded. I don't want to give away too much.

MaxZero, where was the plane heading to? For that matter, where was it heading from?

I left that generic on purpose to stave off google maps. Also, so you could customize it in your head and put yourself in my nameless POV's shoes.  (The plane was simply a vessel to get the intro cutscene started, and you fine folks on the island. I'm starting to think that you guys are overthinking this a little.)

I'm writing down everyone's actions now, and as soon as everyone's actions are in, the turn will commence (unless I'm asleep), and I'll break out my dice. ^_^

For that matter, if you folks want, you can do turns one of two ways: A) Use the whole turn doing one thing (which will net you a bonus), or B) break the turns into smaller pieces, if something seems too short to take the whole phase. There are 6 hours per phase, not including things like stopping for a quick break or using the bathroom or whatnot. No shorter than an hour per semi-action, please. (If everyone takes 6 semi-actions in a particular phase, I'll have to make 84 action determinations, and my wife is already complaining that I'm at my desk too much. :P)

Can we actually get everyone to please look at working together. Having someone grabbing a stick and running into the interior of the Island in hunt of SOMETHING?? isn't all that useful...

Can we talk about what is needed the most.

We have my thoughts on what is needed...

1: 2 people scout the coastline in opposite direction from our 'starting point'. The would be on the look out for anything that could be of use as I have posted beforehand, they would travel one direction for half the day, and back again on the other half.

2: Setting up camp, by the looks of it we have a 'plain' area just off the coast, this means simple shurbs and rolling lands as stated before, in other words a large clearing before the treeline starts, looking for a good place to set up camp in this area is best, this requires looking for 2 of three things.
1, Safety, we do not know whats on this isle, what animals can be found or reptiles in some cases (looks at Australian Island which have Snakes and Spiders that can kill an man easily). A safe location would be against some large boulders for a solid backing or inside a thicket that can be protected quickly.
2, Shelter, we would require something like large leaves or even bamboo if the temperate is appropriate to build an canopy and also flooring at the location, just being able to stop the rain and nature itself from falling on top of us, the need to watch out for the creepy crawleys underneath is needed too.
Finally 3, Food, The intimidate local of food producing plants and or small animal burrows on which some immediate food can be gathered from is uber important. Some would say Hunting, but no one is actually prepared to do so, as it would require more then a stick to catch something, and whats more a team would be needed due to the possibility of a large predator that wouldn't see humans as anything different to its normal menu. So lone Hunts are a no go. So get back here...

As far as I can tell, he's doing what's good with him. He has good hunting skills, and is relatively bad at construction and things that would be useful in camp. As long as he can find his way back to us, he can tell us about food, water, and other things. We've already got a person getting firewood, so we'll be able to start a fire soon enough- Which we won't be able to do in massive plains of grass- Which is why I'm planning to look for a clearing in the forest.

Thirdly, we aren't going to be able to build a shelter until we can actually cut trees, or shift rocks. Our best bet for now is to try and find a natural cave formation, or at least find some sharp rocks so we can attempt to make stone axes and hammers.

But, your scouting the coastline is a good idea. I'm still going to go inland though, for my own reasons seen above.

I'll scout the coastline, um, east, we are currently at the south end of the island, then?

I'll drag what we have of the  plane out of the sea and look at what we have. Since that won't take too long, I look around for some sharp looking scrap metal and see if I can't turn those into some tools.

Addendum to previous command: take any and all firewood back to designated camp. Also look for logs that could be used to build makeshift tents/shelters.

Whoever look around should also look at any lagoon or place where we could fish easily.

I'll try to find a piece of dark plastic and 2 recipient and make a small desalinization plant. Better to be sure to have fresh water even if we don't find a stream.

As long as I've got six hours, I'm going to divide my time into the following tasks:
Gather up any bodies, try to find their names.
Get a list of the survivor's names.
Get a roster of our supplies.
Draw up a rough map as scouting reports come in (I'll do this one myself)

May I assume that I've got the items I'd normally have in my pockets on a plane ride (pen & Paper, mostly) survived? I carry a water-proof notebook in my ACU's.

Crap, I forgot to do inventories. Everyone has clothes (tattered)/4 pockets, folks with glasses get those. I'll give you pen and paper for pointing out my oversight.

Yay! I never leave home without my pen and paper. Unfortunately, the water-proof pad I carry isn't suitable tinder material.

Crap wish i would have got on last night now :D

I'm all for try to salvage the plane, International law says that they must has a basic survival kit on them in case of emergency, it would have a hand ax on it.

>Try to recover the planes Emergency kit. Search for any other recoverable items.
