At 200F, there's a lot of shit that could have fried. That's beyond the danger zone and into the meltdown zone.

Some CPUs will increase their clock rate while under stress and if temperature allows. If that's what your CPU is doing, then there is far more wrong than just a fan.

I don't really know what to suggest here, this is a weird one. My gut says some combination of settings is leading to insanity. Do you have the AMD tool kits and such installed? Are all the processor settings there within reason? (I.e. the processor is being told it can't overclock?)

If it's not settings though....I don't know enough about processors to know whether something can break internally in one that can cause it to behave like this. If there isn't.....then it's probably your mobo.

Things like:

Quote
'DISK BOOT FAILURE, INSERT DISK AND PRESS ENTER'.

Leads me to believe, in combination with the processor and heat issues, that your mobo is freaking out. If your mobo isn't working right, it might not regulate your processor like it should, or may be giving it erroneous instructions.

Close enough, 200°F is 93.3333°C. My processor automatically shuts off at 100°C. Of course, keeping that hot is a bad thing.

Guess I'm keeping it off. Gotta buy another fan?
I think this goes beyond a new fan.

Well shit. I thought they were lying when it had to be liquid nitrogen cooled. So, course of action?

Wait what? The processor calls for nitrogen cooling? That sounds....a little extreme?

No, came from talking about running DF at 1000FPS. Look's like I do need better cooling then a single fan.

I'm going to give you the benefit of the doubt that you're mistaken or joking here. That CPU does not need to be cooled by liquid nitrogen. That is completely ludicrous.

Look's like I do need better cooling then a single fan.

More fans is not the problem. Your CPU should not be doing what it is doing.

Did you buy this system with that CPU installed? Where did you get it? Either you're experiencing serious hardware failure or someone really dropped the ball somewhere. Either way, the CPU should be reacting much better to high temperatures. Even my six-year-old laptop with a P4 knows how to emergency-shutdown.

If the BIOS settings are reverting to default it likely means your BIOS battery is dead.

I don't know why you get the impression that this was happening.
Because he said it goes back to factory settings then said (not the operating system). I interpreted that as BIOS settings, as what else is there on a computer that can revert to default settings which ISN'T the operating system?

No, he didn't. He said it went back to the factory settings screen.

Guess 200F wasn't enough to shut the computer down. It does overclock when you use more CPU then you have currently. I'll buy a better\more cooling system/s and get a new whatever fried.
