Because he said it goes back to factory settings

No, he didn't. He said it went back to the factory settings screen.
Ah, well... my mistake.

Guess 200F wasn't enough to shut the computer down. It does overclock when you use more CPU then you have currently. I'll buy a better\more cooling system/s and get a new whatever fried.

We already told you that a cooling system is hardly your big problem here. There's something wrong going on, period.

Anyway, you can see what's fried by seeing what's working. Have you booted off a boot disk yet?

At 200F, there's a lot of shit that could have fried. That's beyond the danger zone and into the meltdown zone.
Close enough, 200°F is 93.3333°C. My processor automatically shuts off at 100°C. Of course, keeping that hot is a bad thing.

Guess I'm keeping it off. Gotta buy another fan?
I think this goes beyond a new fan.
According to this site, your CPU doesn't like going over 61oC during peaks. I'd say 93oC is a wee bit over that...

Got me an old XP computer. Has a AMD Athlon 2000 processer, with 520MB of ram. I'll be lucky to run Dues Ex on low with this.

Got me an old XP computer. Has a AMD Athlon 2000 processer, with 520MB of ram. I'll be lucky to run Dues Ex on low with this.
System requirements for Deus Ex, copied from its helpfiles:

Minimum Specifications: 300 Mhz Pentium II or equivalent
Windows 95/98
64 MB RAM
DirectX 7.0a compliant 3D accelerated video card
DirectX 7.0a compliant sound card
DirectX 7.0a or higher (included)
4X CD-ROM Drive
150 MB uncompressed hard drive space
Keyboard and Mouse

Recommended Specifications:
AMD Athlon or Intel Pentium III processor
128 MB RAM
3D accelerator with 16 MB VRAM
8X CD-ROM Drive
750 MB uncompressed hard drive space
EAX or A3D compliant audio card

I'd say you'd be perfectly fine with everything on full for Deus Ex. The game is roughly 10 years old.

Minimum/Recommended specs are bullshit and everybody knows it. This old P4 laptop has well beyond the recommended specs, but still has slight problems with 32-bit color lagging the game too much.

I'm thinking about slightly over clocking this piece of crap. It's putting off no heat, and is currently at 30C. Should I, or should I not? Also, a program to moniter the temp from windows would be nice.

Are you sure it's the CPU itself at 30 degrees C, or something else?

Anyway, that's an old computer. I wouldn't do much of anything to it that might compromise its longevity.

Also: How much did you pay for that thing, and what did you do with the other one?
