Do like the danish vikings. Get rye bread. Eat it. Lots of it.

Lots of fiber, complex sugars and unsaturated fats.

I can't stomach energy drinks, but that's a good idea on the calorie-full drinks. I have to drink a lot of water too, so that's two birds with one stone.

Energy drinks? A good idea? Sure, if you want a massive caffeine dependency. Those things aren't healthy by any stretch of the imagination.

To be honest.... Just eat more.

Whatever your calorie intake, you should steer clear of sat fats and salt etc.

Most of the stuff suggested here has been good - vegetables, oils, nuts and whole grains are where it's at. Eating sugary stuff is not worth it... It burns out too quickly.  Fats and carbohydrates are your friends, so look into stuff like pasta and brown bread etc. but also up your intake of stuff like olive oil... Look at mediterranean diets, they are full of oil, but are one of the healthiest cuisines out there.

Fruit is good, but note that is it sugars you're eating, so having just fruit for dessert won't supply you with a long term source of energy, but does give you vitamins.

Also, if you are running a lot, make sure you're getting enough protein... Chicken and lowfat meats are great, they are not too high in calories but don't give you nasty sat fats... Eggs are great too, and so is dairy. Full fat milk has quite a high protein count, and a high fat count, plus getting some liquid into you is a good thing, as well as giving you calcium.

I wouldn't worry too much about vitamin C or iron... If you are a man, you lose very little iron in comparison to a woman, who can lose a significant amount every month.  This is easily replenished by eating red meats (lean steak is great!) anyway, so as long as you eat animal products, it should be ok (supposedly iron-rich vegetables such as spinnach contain iron, but we can't digest it, helpful!  :P).

On the note of calorie-full drinks... Well, it will probably be sugar. So good if you feel you need it, but not really an adequate way of supplying energy...

So I suppose, fats and carbs are good, with protein to support your running... Vegetables are great, mix them with everything.

Tho this is kind of about healthy eating, not about calories, sorry.



Oh and jacket potatoes have a higher GI than glucose itself.... i.e. they are bascially the equivalent of eating sugar cubes, the energy hits and goes in a flash. Generally, potatoes are baaaaaad.

Eh. From what I can tell, this is complicated and depends on a variety of factors, like what else you're eating. Green leafy vegetables are pretty kickass in general, though. I'm a big fan of kale (vitamin C, iron, calcium, vitamin A, fiber, some vitamin E, massive vitamin K, lots of trace nutrients).

I would love to, but I fill up pretty quickly. Tall tales of a hollow leg aside, my stomach is not infinite.

In comparison to a woman, no, I don't lose much Iron. I still do lose it more quickly than most men, though, because of the chemical reaction that occurs when your body produces lactic acid, which builds up as you run. Vitamin C... well, I get sick a lot because of that same reaction. The colds I get last twice as long as those that my brother. Normally you could pass this off as different body types, but we're identical twins. Nice control there.

I make frappes in the blender. Strawberry Banana Yogurt, Frozen strawberries, and Orange Juice. If your feeling adventurous experiment with other ingredients, but it generaly comes out good as long as your frozen fruit is the same as the flavor of Yogurt that you use. The fruit serves to chill the concoction quite nicely, but if you have a hankering for junk food you can throw in some vanilla ice cream.

I wouldn't suggest Energy Drinks to anyone unless I hated them. (They always kill my throat)

From a runner's perspective, I used to eat a ton of pasta and bread the night before a race, and then smaller quantities of peanut butter sandwhichs the morning before. I'd shy aware from dairy and heavy foods before running, though after is fine.

Really, anything Italians' make it going to meet you're particular need. Pasta and and lasagna have a ton of complex carbs, plus protein and vitamins depending on what you have in the sauce. And it also a great source of deliciousness.

To answer the filling question, just eat more meals per day,and don't eat when you're not hungry. Its healthier in general to eat more frequently rather than more meals anyway.

Well a lot of active jobs eat foods that have become jokes but make a lot of sense within concept such as a Lumberjack Breakfast

Actually outside of Oatmeal breakfast is the most calorie loaded of the meals excluding desert... Eggs, Bacon, breakfast sausage, Frenchtoast with Syrup, orange juice...

Breakfast Sammich:
-Two slices toasr
-Fry bacon
-Cook eggs
-Put cheese, sausage, onion, mushrooms, bacon, ham on top
-Flip and fry until ham crispy
-Put on bread
-Om nom nom

-Triple bypass Profit!
