3 towns.  All have no buildings.
All hamlets have nothing.
No mountainhomes with entrances. (Damn dorfs, you're paranoid about them foxes.)
Nothing I can use to get any farther than day 3 before getting mauled.

And then when I get lucky and get a random quest, it's to go to a camp which is always filled with at least 20 guys and 2 or 3 megabeasts.  ?!?!?!

I don't think a large region with 1050 years of history is a pocket world, no.

If you want dwarves to exist you need to make their civ site towns otherwise you're just going to get a bunch of empty map space where a mountain home should be.

It's not even that.
There is NOTHING.  there aren't any populated towns, any populated hamlets, etc.  The only thing is fortresses, which are filled with a buncha sissies that any honest throwerdwarf can murder with a well-placed bunny rabbit.

Just keep re-gening then, I guess. I dislike large worlds, I always opt for the medium. There's just too much ground to cover in the bigger ones.

Took your advice, there are a FEW things to do now. ('bout the smaller size)
Plus, less lag and better embarks.

Maybe your history ran too far and led to abandoned civ's..  I read this had happened to someone else but meh.. you fixed it.
