Mercy Kills?
« on: December 22, 2010, 04:34:13 pm »

Have you ever killed a companion that had enough suffering? I recently killed an orc (Genesis) companion that had its spine, legs, and arm broken. I decided just to kill him, but unfortunately, made myself an enemy to all orcs.

It's actually pretty easy to kill a companion without attacking him.  Just light a tree on fire and lure him into the flames, then wait about 20 turns until they die.

I usually do this when an ally has an item I want, but you can use it for mercy kills if you're less of a sadistic bastard than me.

Only in Dwarf Fortress is burning someone to death considered a mercy kill.

No, never. Why would I? If they're still mostly conscious, then they can fight! I once led a band of ten adventurers with 13 legs between them. And only six noses. And (i think) 14 eyes.

They crawled fiercely into battle. And the occasional tree.

Dwarf Fortress, where burning cripples is good karma!
