Isn't surprising. The worldgen likes to create FUBAR embarks all the time!

Before DF2010 "LAST DWARVES IN THE WORLD" scenarios were quite popular

Just out of curiosity, what age is it?

Christ, are you dwarves or are you elves? If you think Hell has too many demons, then youkill them till the population reaches an acceptable number.
Dwarf Fortress: So horrifying the players would rather talk about nice things, like Warhammer 40k.

People have noted a marked increase of glitchy embarks like this since DF2010 came out. 2000 z-levels high adamantine spires, caverns spawning in the sky, mountains made out of magma, recently someone had a perfectly square hole in the ground that went straight down to the bottom of the map.

A man would see that as a difficult challenge.
An elf would see that and despair.
A dwarf would see that and say, "Bring it on."

And the opposite, mysteriously pointy mountains in otherwise flat embarks and jutting volcanoes that may or may not leak magma.

Do you always look at it in ASCII?

You get used to it, I don't even see the ASCII.  All I see is blacksmith, miner, goblin.

honestly, that was a ragequit moment.  The friggin thief just walked on past and grabbed it.  There were like 100+ floors yet to be placed.
My computer struggled to load all the demons.  Then, next frame, I check the unit list....
The last.... 4+ pages.... all demons.

I've also had volcanoes in the middle of lakes/oceans, with water flowing into them. Lets not forget magma seas on the surface, empty volcanoes (disable HFS for this, seems perfectly repeatable), etc.

I got Firesnakes listed under "Fish" when I was buying my supplies during the embark. Also "Cave Fish Man" and "Cave Fish Woman".

Socks.  Lots and lots of socks.  It's the greatest Dwarven vice of all, outstripping alcohol by several orders of magnitude: the desire to own and haul as many feet-warming tubes of cloth as possible.
It's the tent of Hilarious Flying Shenanigans!  Everyone's favorite circus.
