Convine people if they want proper tools they should supply a proper amount of furnace fuel.
Feed spider. Aquire furnace fuel. Complain to other elves about goblins in the fortress.
[5/10]
Should Dusk be held responsible for the death of Miriam?
It was absolutely unnnessesary so most definetly yes.
Should Dusk be held responsible for the theft of Selande's stuff?
Nay
If Dusk is found responsible for one or more crimes, what punishment would your character feel to be suitable?

Make him work. No need to kill off a pair of working hands if this pair can help fortress even in his guilt

10/10

His character is young and stupid, of course he'll make mistakes. I'll take full responsibility for the thefts, and take care of Miriam's death myself under the condition that he's brought to age and put under supervision at all times until he's properly taught.

I'll give Argus my point in bows for knowledge of the goblin language.
Teach Ochita 1 level of heat magic, practice sensing with mineral magic and illusions with fluid magic in the forest.

Wait, the lead pot is Ochitas? I didn't know that! What do I do?! Should I tell them that Dusk been stealing my 'herbs'? Should I hide it in a better place or confess? I think I keep quiet about it for now.

1/10

"While I understand that he did this to help he should have consulted with before 'mucking' around the innards of a Sludge Elf. I don't know where he learned his arts of healing but he should take whatever punishment we deem appropriate."

At the end of the Tribunal Selande will find another container and switch it with the lead pot. This time she will ask around first before she takes the new container. She will also hide the 'herbs' in a better location so that something like this won't be repeated.
Edit: Any time I have left should be used to look for a suitable trunk or log of tree to make a casket off for Miriam.

Due to some issues I've covered in the OOC thread I've decided to only roll the tribunal tonight. The results speak for themselves and some of you may wish to change your actions accordingly. If all goes according to plan I will roll the full turn tomorrow night, so if you want to change your action do so in a timely manner.

The Tribunal:

Selande brings out her pot-pie from last night for breakfast. You enjoy a hurried meal before Dusk is carried into the room by Karratan and Zrallin. Caboose, being the one to propose the tribunal in the first place, is declared master of ceremony and calls the grim event to order. A quick show of hands makes it quite clear that there is not enough intrest to persue the charges of theft against Dusk

Ochita is called to speak first. He has a hard time commanding attention due to the fact that he is lying hurt on a table. His voice is numb due to the spell Caboose has put on him to numb his pain. "He should be held responsible." the injured Geomancer declares bluntly "The death of one of us will affect us greatly. Plus, what he did is against the law in many elven states. He wasn't even trained!"

Selande is called to speak next. Her voice is soft and she seems to just want to get the procedure over with. "I... I understand that he did this to help he should have consulted with before 'mucking' around the innards of a Sludge Elf. I don't know where he learned his arts of healing but he should take whatever punishment we deem appropriate." She finishes her quick speech strongly and seems to be proud of he performance.

Dusk is called to speak in his own defense, but he only stares at the ceiling and cries out Miriam's name in both Elfin and Olman repeatedly until instructed to stop by everyone present.

At this point a goblin enters the room. She is female and covered in a strange syrup-like substance. She seems incapable of understanding the proceedings but stares intently at everybody in the room, especially Disead.

Zrallin testifies next. "I think..." he says slowly "Dusk may have overheard and misinterpreted a joke Disaed made as advice that anyone could operate on Miriam, even himself. Because he did not grow up in Elven society, Dusk did not know that this was illegal. He was probably only trying to help."

Disaed then speaks up with a wide smile on his face and his clothes covered in the same substance that coats the Goblin "He is responsible for the death of Miriam." the halfbreed shouts as he points dramaticaly at Dusk "First of all...it was unnecessary invasive surgery. Why take the risk, when more experienced medical professionals had deemed it not essential? Given time, rest and magic, Miriam would of LIVED. But a foolish decision cost us our best warrior. Why in fact, would someone try a risky operation with no medical knowledge? His actions were responsible for her death, no question."

The diplomat pauses for a second before continuing. "The question then is what punishment? I vote for a harsh beating, in the style of the Dwarves. Hammerings! Let him withstand ten hammer blows from our strongest warrior, or even one of our new friends may loan us a punisher..."

"Enough!" Caboose shouts. "You are out of bounds, proposing a punishment before a verdict has been reached."

"But I was only suggesting that the outcome of this tribunal is obvious to any elf with half a bra-"

"Silence!" The dawnelf roars. "If I hear one more word from you aside from your vote I will charge you with the criminal obstruction of a tribunal!" Disaed gulps and Caboose takes a deep breath before continuing. "Dusk is young, and bound to do stupid things. I'll take on full responsibility for Miriams death and see to her burial. I suguest Dusk be put under supervision and brought to age. For the love of all that is frosty, don't hammer a Justborn!"

"That is a blatent appeal to emotion. It has no place in a tribunal your wonderfulness." Disaed says with a smirk.

"I SAID YOU SHUT UP YOU EARTHFORSAKEN MULE!" Caboose takes a moment to catch his breath while the rest of the room stares in stunned silence for what feels like minutes.

"Alright. I'm sorry about." Caboose says with a slight frown. "Now to vote. All in favor of dropping the charge of murder raise your hand."

Zrallin and Caboose raise their right hands into the air. After several seconds Selande's hand, swayed by the ice mage's arguement, joins them.

Caboose shakes his head and speaks with a golden tear in his eye. "All in favor of convicting Dusk of murder, and moving on to determining his sentence put your hands up."

The right hands of Ochita and Karratan rise. Disaed injured right arm slowly lifts into the air as well. "We have a tie." Disaed comments "We could be here for awhile."

Despite the tears running down his eyes Caboose manages to smirk. "We do not. Dusk votes in his own defense of course. Charges dropped."

"WHAT?" Disaed shouts as he makes an exaggerated double take. "Since when did the defendant have the right to vote in an Elfin tribunal?"

"Since I started running tribunals!"

"That is just insane. He didn't even raise his hand!"

"I SAID SHUT UP you Goblin fucking son of a war criminal!" Caboose says softly as he generates a shard of ice in his hand and points at Disaed.

"But I... um... he murdered her... Don't kill me!" Disaed stammers as his eyes grow wide.

Caboose only roars angrily in response and releases the missle in Disaed's direction. The shard strikes its target dead on, piercing the Diplomat in the forehead before coming out cleanly on the other side.

Disaed has suffered a pierced head (Critical wound, requires immediate medical attention)
Disaed has fallen into a vegetative state (Can only be cured by supernatural means)

The female goblin rushes to Disaed's side as he falls to the ground and wraps her arms around him. She begins to bawl like a baby human.

Caboose:

The group stares at you, stunned. It takes a couple seconds for the consequences of your actions to sink in. "What have I done?" you stammer before running out of the room crying almost as loud as the goblin.

You go to the hospital and sit down on your bed. Adella's voice floods your head. "Well that didn't go exactly as I expected, but your actions resulted in the spilling of blood. As a reward for your service to corruption and depravity I hearby grant you knowledge of the goblin language."

A surge of information enters into your mind. It is all to much. You pass out.

The next turn will cover 5 hours and 30 minutes until noon. Disaed will die unless somebody treats the gaping hole in his head right away. With Ochita hurt, Caboose racked with guilt and potentialy out cold for a bit, and Dusk still tripping balls this leaves Zrallin and Karratan. Ouch...

In light of events I'm gonna have to look for darker stuff, and see if I can contact those demons in my state.

My argument was supposed to be peaceful and stern, not emotional and aggressive. The mood shift to anger seems pretty artificial.

I'll offer my bow and shield points, and my ice powered perk to my door acquaintances in exchange for them fixing Disaed. If that doesn't do it, I'll put my left arm in the deal.

Oh gods, oh gods, oh gods... This is bad, very bad. I need to do something fast or we are going to lose another elf.

Selande will prepare some Blood Lichen Algae and then do a improvised head bandage on Disaed to lessen the bloodloss. If possible make him consume some of the algae incase he miraculously awakes from his vegetative state. Then the only thing she can do is pray for him to get better.

Incase this looks like a hopeless case, start looking for tree logs to make caskets with, enough for two.

I get some cloth from the hospital to bandage Disaed's head and then ask Ochita if there's anything else I can do to help Disaed. If he gives me something to do, I'll do it; otherwise, I'll go outside and throw rocks.

"Okay everyone.. LISTEN! Zrallin, you are going to do surgery on Disaed, the objectives are to remove the bone fragments, oversee the metal infusion and to not let him bleed out. Someone get Caboose, tell him that Ochita needs some metal cooled fast while its infusing. I will use my magic and medical skills to help you on this. Someone get dusk out of his trip. Dammit... Im still going to be out for a while... just get someone to prepare an operation for me afterwards. Dusk might be best, due to the 'training' he received."
Get the operation ready on the head.

(Special thanks to everyone's favorite Clothier for helping with the write up. The fact that good things happened to Dusk is a mere coincidence. Check out one of the games in her sig; None of them are exactly my cup of tea but I'm sure she puts lot of work into them.)

Dusk:

You reach out for demonic presences and the like a storm the friendly spirits flee left and right, and an overwelming evil presses down on you hard. The demon introduces itself as Thraden Mindrenderer and reaches out and touches you. For the briefest of moments your mind is overwhelmed by the nature and power of every realm of existence.

Your experience perk has changed to "Living Bridge": Your body and mind have been chosen to serve as a link between the spiritual, the living, and the unholy. Spirits and demons often aid you in hopes that you return the favor and grant them power in another realm. You gain a bonus to any action involving demons or spirits. You gain a large bonus to any action involving both types of entities.
You have received an offer from Thraden: One favor, within reason, of your choosing, as long as you do not lose the experience perk "Living Bridge", before you come of age.

You pass out as the demon reseeds away to the recesses of your mind, and you remain asleep.

You are done tripping

Ochita:

The gods do not heed your calls but you stand determined to save Disaed, "Okay everyone..

Zrallin+Ochita:

Zrallin removes bone fragments from Disaed's brain, applying Billion to his skull, and bandaging afterwards.

Ochita aids in and oversees the surgery using fluid magic to keep him from bleeding out and mineral magic to graft the Billion to the skull.

-1 bowl of Billion
-1 unit of royal reed fiber cloth
Disaed's head wound has been upgraded to moderate!

Zrallin:

After finishing a grueling surgery and being yelled at several times by Ochita to be careful, you slump into a bed and fall asleep for about an hour and a half. You wake back up just before lunch and go to back the dining hall. Disaed is starting to come around...

Selande:

You borrow Zrallins blade seeing as he wont need it to do brain surgery, and remind yourself to return it to him later.

Karratan+Selande:

You drag the gibbering Dusk out into the hall, and lay him on the floor, and decide to head out and gather wood together. Selande manages to collect 15 towercat branches for building coffins, and Karratan scrounges up 11 for fuel using his pick.

+26 towercap branches

Karratan:

You return and start digging out rocks near the fortress entrance. You quickly and deftly drag a couple boulders into the mint, where eventually you can design and build a wood furnace to make charcoal. You toss a piece of gator meat onto the web that your new cavespider friend built. The critter eats happily.

-1 serving of gator meat
+3 large rocks

Selande:

You pass by a sobbing goblin woman in the hall, to return Zrallins blade, and learn that Disaed has actually survived the opperation, but is still vegetative, you then go look for a container to hide your chemicals but the only ones you find were made by Disaed. Since you cannot exactly ask him about them now you leave the containers be. You go to the hospital to grab a few hours of sleep before lunchtime.

Caboose:

You wake up from your "nap" too late to help with the others with Disaed's head wound but you call upon the demons to fix the damages you can.

You offer your skills in bow and shield to the demons in exchange for healing the mind of Disaed, the demons revel in your remorse and Argus accepts your arrangement.

You feel your knowledge of bows and sheilds drain away.

-1 level in the bows skill
-1 level in the shields skill

Disaed:

You wake up on a table in the dining hall. Your head hurts like hell. Zrallin and the female goblin from last night are both leaning over you. "You with us you Lucky sonofabitch?" the night elf asks.

Looking yourself over you notice that your clothes are covered with syrup and blood. "Yeah... what the heck happened to me?"

"You had an accident during the tribunal. It is only lunchtime so you were not out too long... but we all thought you were a goner for sure. Welcome to the metal skull club... Guess I don't owe you my life anymore."

Zrallin cracks a few distasteful jokes about how you hooked up with a Goblin before leaving the room.

Your head is now more resilient to injury

It is now noon. The next turn will cover 6 hours until dusk. The pack animals are getting very hungry: Somebody should take them to the caverns or the forest to graze. Vorthon's character is about to show up, and will be introduced at lunchtime. Vorthon can post his action.
