It really was a dark time, all those years ago.
A NEW CONSERVATIVE ERA
The year was 2009.
Conservative President Colin Ratzenberger ends his second term with aproval ratings in the high 70's, and was succeded by hardcore Arch-Conservative Ron Krishna.
With Conservatives sweeping into power in the House of Representatives and Senate, and a Conservative majority in the Supreme Court of the United States, commentators hailed it as the begining of a new Conservative era.
President Ron Krishna had asked the new Congress to move to quickly to rubber stamp his radical Arch-Conservative agenda. The left seemed helpless to stop the imminent trampling of Liberal Sanity and Justice.
In that dark time, the Liberal Crime Squad was born...
And born it was. A single Elite Liberal in the darkness of the Nightmare stood against the rising tide. The Founder. The USA had become a backwards and opressive dystopia, but the Founder did not lay down and die like so many others. The LCS spread Liberal Reason across the nation. In the year 2012, an Elite Liberal President was elected. By 2014, the previously Conservative Congress had given way to the people's demand for justice such that not a single Conservative or Moderate remained in it. In 2017, the shattered remains of the Conservative Supreme Court had been declared traitors to the nation and replaced by good Elite Liberals. Within the decade, the Founder's dream of a Liberal Paradise became reality, and what Arch-Conservatives remained slinked away into the dark recesses of society, apparently accepting their defeat. The Liberal Crime Squad disbanded for the last time, their job finished.
With the West's last large holdout of Conservatives abolished, Liberal Reason not only bloomed in the United States, but the world at large. The European Union came together, forgoing their previous Conservative national identities and becoming a single Liberal nation. Later, the newly forged North American Union would do the same. China and Russia grew horrified by the Conservative path of totalitarianism they were nearing, and changed their fate. The Koreas reunited. Democracy and Socialism spread like wildfire, untill no nation on Earth went without them. In 2035, the last of the Arch-Conservative nuclear weapons was disarmed, their horrible and Evil power finally rejected by humanity. The failed ideals of nationalism began to fade away, with open borders and international citizenship the world over. The world was powered by renewable and natural energy everywhere. It was a new golden age, set off by the defiance of one person.
By 2080, only a few nations continued to mantain even a token millitary force. It looked as if humanity was ready after so long to put down the last of its strife and conflict forever, and expand out into the universe in friendship.
But nothing Good lasts forever.
In the underbelly of society, the Arch-Conservatives survived, a small number of them still rejecting Liberal Reason all these years after their defeat at the hands of the Founder. And they were determined to make sure that their day would come again. On December 31th, 2083 at 11:59 PM, a nuclear weapon developed in secret by the Arch-Conservative "activist" group The Sons of Wealth was detonated in Washington D.C. With an attached message claiming to be from the European Union. In a milisecond, all of the Founder's hard work collapsed. The citizens of the North American Union demanded blood for what had been done. The European Union denied everything and claimed the NAU had framed them for this crime. Paranoia ran thick across the world as nations sought to blame one another like their years of peace had never happened. Borders were closed, and the Earth stood still. For the first time in nearly five decades, war was declared. Old papers in sealed test labs were dusted off. As millions died in the struggle for the Atlantic, the NAU did the unthinkable. They rebuilt the nuclear weapons of old, and in 2085 nuked the whole of Europe into uninhabitable wasteland. Wisdom darkened the Heart of so many, while others engaged in a futile struggle to stop the pointless slide back into the Nightmare. People the world over prayed that the Founder would return to save them.
The Founder never came back. Some said that in what would have been great age, the Founder would have become Wise and moderate. Others said that that could never happen to one so great as the Founder, and that the nuclear fires that consumed Europe had to be the unsuspecting Liberal's grave. Some simply thought that age had taken the Founder after all these years.
The year is 2115, and the Arch-Conservatives are more powerful than even in the Old Nightmare. But in these dark times, there is no Liberal Crime Squad. There may even be no hope for the future. But that doesn't mean you have to lay down and die.
This RTD is, as you might surmise from the backstory, set in a potential future after the events of Liberal Crime Squad. I must warn you that I have never done this before, and there may be horrific failures on my part. I also must warn you that you may or may not even be able to win this. I haven't decided.
Age: (Remember, older characters will have more natural experiance, but also lessened Health, Strength, and Agility coupled with raised Wisdom. By contrast, younger ones will have higher Agility, Strength, and Health, but far less natural skill.)
Profession: (Will determine your top skills and in some cases, starting Juice.)
Alignment: Elite Liberal (Depending on how this goes, future players being allowed to enter the game as Arch-Conservatives or Extreme Moderates may be allowed, but not now.)
