Nop. If the material itself sheds the light, and the material does not let much light pass through, that means most of it is coming from the surface. Thus, we increase the surface area.

Sorry about delays. Spring break is upon me and I've been distracted by real life.

"Any ideas for more light?" you ask the goblins. The knife, glowing fungi, get some damned nightvision... You ignore the last one and pull our Fortresssparks. In it's knife form it doesn't shed much light, so you try to make it bigger. After much arguing with it, it turns into a short sword again. Better... but not by much. What else could you do....? A balloon? Maybe a new bulb that doesn't need electricity? Would it serve as a battery on its own? You have Fortressspeaks form a pool in the palm of your hand, unscrew the bulb from the lamp, and have Fortresssparks take that same shape. You screw in your new "bulb," but there is no difference between it being in the lamp and outside of it. You try the balloon next, but to get anywhere near enough light to be safe you need it to be huge. An inconvenience, really, but anything sentient will laugh at you. Acting on your last idea, you have Fortresssparks form into a battery and replace the one in the lamp.
You feel around until you hit the "off" switch, then screw in the old bulb. "Here goes nothing," as you look away and turn on the switch.
After a moment's pause, you open your eyes and see that the lamp gives off just as much light as it used to. It seems pretty bright, but that's just because you spent a few minutes in the near-total darkness while you were messing with it. "Huh."

With that problem dealt with, you look around for auras. You begin to open your third eye, but shut it immediately. Something is on the other side of the wall in front of you, and is giving off the brightest aura you've ever seen. Without looking, you'd guess that your target is just ahead of you. You rub your eyes, even though they aren't the ones that hurt. You feel a headache coming on.

Get Fortresssparks to become a pickaxe and mine through the wall.

Just make a small hole at first, so we can see it without it being able to get to us.... too easily.

I wonder if we'll find any clowns down here... Given where we are it isn't impossible...

Also, a pickaxe? Pickaxes are made to be sturdy and heavy, so you can get through hard, solid rock. Rock isn't that hard nor solid to our shiny friend Fortresssparks. Turn it into a spear or sword type thing and just stab/cut through the rock. It adds the chance for anything dangerous on the other side to be skewered, and we'll be ready for some of the dangerous things we might find in there.

You knock on the stone, trying to fathom its thickness. You press your ear closer, and knock again. You can hear your knuckles hitting the stone, and it certainly sounds hollow. You consider pulling out fortresssparks, but that would leave you in darkness.
Getting an idea, you step back and try to bash down the wall with a kick. You hear a resounding boom on the other side of the rock, then a slight rumble. When nothing else happens, you wind up for another, but suddenly the world is replaced with noise, light, and falling stone.

You awaken a moment later, and everything has settled. You are surrounded by... sunlight? You look up and see the fiery orb blazing brightly above you. Your eyes adjust in time to see the immense paw swiping toward you. You jump to the side, and will fortresssparks into your hand as a knife. You get on your feet quickly, but are forced to flatten once more when you notice another furry appendage heading your way. You leap up and sprint to an alcove in the white, circular wall. An instant before you charge to safety, it is closed off. You put your back against the wall, but the titanic tiger is charging you again. With only a fraction of a second to spare, you leap between its front legs and grab onto its right hind leg. You scramble up, using fortresssparks as a climbing axe.
You pause for a moment as the world becomes noise again. You must have hit a nerve somewhere, but start climbing again anyway. You aren't sure why, but you get halfway up to its rump before it starts fighting back. You hold for dear life, wrest fortresssparks from the great cat's leg, then stab and slash wildly whenever it brings its head or paws around. You make it to the knee, but it starts flailing its leg in a maddened attempt to shake you off. You just... barely... hold... on... until it stops. You start feeling the onrushing fatigue drench you, but survival depends on being able to get on top of this thing. You climb ever higher, and cross onto its mighty backside. You begin to sprint to its neck for the kill, but your next step fails to connect with its back as the monstrosity rolls over. You fall into a fold of skin and tumble to the floor. You quickly jump to your feet, but before you can do anything three big men in red uniforms wrestle you to the ground. You thrash violently in their grasp.
After a moment, you notice that the tiger is purring. Loudly. Something has subdued it, and it's lying on its back like it expects a stomach rub. The men in red lift you and walk you toward the alcove you had been closed out of earlier. Up some stairs and through a hall, you are taken to a room with a birds eye view of the chamber you had your battle in. A man in a white coat addresses you.
"Who the hell are you?"

"John," you answer innocently.

He gives you a nasty look. "Where did you come from? And why were you trying to kill the subject?"

"I'm not sure on the first one, but I can say with confidence that the tiger attacked me first."

"What do you mean you aren't sure?"

"Well, I blacked out and woke up in there with your "Subject" trying to kill me."

He looks about to ask another question, but stops himself and turns to one of the guards. "Ask quantum if they've noticed anything unusual lately." The guard salutes and leaves.

"Where am I?" you ask.

"You are in a room of the beneath labs. We study the creatures of the caverns. This 'tiger' was found on the third expedition. We're trying to find an answer for how it got so big."

"Magic?" You say.

He shakes his head, but says nothing.

Say 'Maaaaaaaaaagiiiiiiiiic' in a really sarcastic voice while waving your hands vaugely.
Then ask him what he means by subject.

Say that it probably got so big because of Chuck Danzen, that 70's weather reporter.

Anyway, question him about the nature of the tiger.

When all you have is a magnificent, mildly blue-glowing hammer..

Well yeah. Let's see. We want to hide Fortress. Try telling it to get to safety? It's semi-sentient and should understand what you mean. Then,
Say 'Maaaaaaaaaagiiiiiiiiic' in a really sarcastic voice while waving your hands vaugely.

(Why are you guys unsure whether or not he means the giant tiger?)

Since we control Gesholsmn through aura power, we could probably use it as a scout in some cases, but the bracelet (or lamp) should be fine for now.
After we annoy him sufficiently with talk of magic, be serious and ask how we might get back out of this crazy scientific place. Also, if we have a few seconds unseen, do a direction check for the massive aura.

Imagine a cool peice of sky-blue and milk-white marble about 3cm by 2cm and by 0.5cm, containing a tiny 2mm malacolite crystal. Now imagine the miles of metamorphic rock it's embedded in that no pick or chisel will ever touch. Then, imagine that those miles will melt back into their mantle long before any telescope even refracts an image of their planet. The watchers will be so excited to have that image too.

I meant what he meant by the giant tiger being the/a subject. What sort of experiment it is in in other words.
