I couldn't have said it better myself.



You get an idea. You focus on the blade, looking deep inside of it to see its magical core. You see your target, and try to change it. It's difficult, but you manage to wrest control from whatever was possessing it. You order it to hide itself, and it melts away and up your sleeve. You feel it form into a band around your upper arm. You ask it to become a knife again, and before you blink it's in your hand once more, glowing and sharp as ever.
You wonder what was controlling it before, and an instant later Thikutlitast the ghost appears before you.
"Return my knife to me, human!" he yells.

"I don't think so."

"Impudent! How dare you defy me!" He makes a motion to rush you, but you hold up the knife and he stops.

"Why did you possess my arms if you didn't want me to have it?"

He remains silent.

"You must have known that I would try to take control of it." He still refuses to answer. You smile at him. "Since you seem to be scared of it, I assume it can hurt you. Is this true?"

He makes a growling sound and retreats into the bracelet.
You consider cutting the bracelet off, but it seems like that would just be spiteful. You hide the knife once more, and leave the forges.

After much wandering, you find the exit to the fortress and make your way into the caverns. You aren't sure how you're going to get there, but you resolve to find the massive beast that you came down here to find in the first place. You travel through the muddy expanses, over the lakes, through the tunnels for hours until your way is obstructed by a forest of the tree-mushrooms that were relatively sparse nearer the dwarven fortress. Here, however, they grow with only half a foot of space between them. But they aren't the only type of large vegetation here. There are other, stranger trees here. These particular plants are taller, yellowish, with hanging bits attached to their multiple branches. You assume that the hanging bits are a kind of fruit, but you wouldn't eat them if you could help it.
It occurs to you that you haven't eaten in quite a while. You pull out one of the purple mushrooms that the dwarves gifted you, and attempt to eat it. You close your eyes and bit into an edge of the cap, expecting the worst. It's... bland. It has the strange rubbery texture as surface mushrooms, but has almost no flavor. Once you swallow the one mouthful, you are suddenly extremely full. You aren't sure why, but you suddenly feel... satisfied, you guess, in the hunger department. You put the remainder back into your pack and take a swig of water.
"What are those purple mushroom called?" you ask the goblins. Plump helmets? That's weird.

or maybe go back to the surface to find it more moderny dwarf fortessyish with titans roaming around and peeps screemin

So... our knife turned into a band around our arm?

And the previous artefact was an indestructible bracelet?

Mad science time! See if this bracelet will turn into a shield of sorts :D

(My imagination randomly decided to paint the dagger-turning-into-a-bracelet-moment in reality level detail. Living liquid metal is better than the movies I've seen picture it.)

...Are you still carrying around the limbs of those goblins? In fact; take a quick inventory. Try to console the goblins with an indifferent "you weren't using them anymore" if they notice they are looking at their own rotting limbs and old possessions.
 Anyway, is the core of {looks up ~proper name, chuckles heartily, multiple times} Geshudolsmosn's Dream (or perhaps Geshudolsmos' Dreamn) more like an aura or a force? Does it look like both or either? See if you can dip your own aura into it momentarily, instead of just grasping it. It seemed almost as though Thikutlitast didn't make it because he planned to do so, but because he was taken by the same impulse that made him possess the child.

 (Despite what this is probably leading up to, I think it has the potential to take on quite a personality.)

You bring out Fortresssparks and examine it closely. You can't find anything out of the ordinary, but decide to experiment with other forms it can take. You ask it to become a Colt .45, and it melts into a ball for a moment, eventually turning itself into a question mark. Hmmm. Maybe it needs to see one first? You order it to become an arrow, and it does. You throw it into a treeshroom, and it pierces right through. After a moment, it's in your hand again.
You order Fortresssparks to hide once more, and it disappears up your sleeve. Again, on to adventure! Well, as soon as you get past these trees.
"Hey, goblins," you say. "How should I get past these trees?" A moment later, you reply, "no, going around is not an option."
After further deliberation, you decide to just press on slowly through the spaces. It's uncomfortable, it's slightly painful, and it requires much maneuvering, but you get to a clearing. Well, it has no trees at least. The floor is covered with a riotous profusion of plants and fungi. You lie down next to a bush that feels as hard as stone, and rest.

It's a butchery of languages or "Flying Sparks of Fortress' Dream", we can butcher it more thoroughly to get Gesholsmn's Dream-n, Dream-n Geshol's, and Drunk-n Geshols. But of course, all these lip-flapping names are terribly inaccurate for a wonder like this anyway, so what matters here is that it's consistent, and more specific than "our knife".

Scan for auras.
Yes...we were supposed to be a target now, what's taking them so long?

While you rest, try one more trick with Geshols; ask it to turn into a spear, pike, or naginata by becoming hollow. Considering its strength, this shouldn't weaken it like it would lesser metals. Then give it good hook and climb the trees so we can go over them instead of through them.

Finally; strip and drop corpse parts.

The majority was just Fortresssparks, but I add a vote for both "flying" and "dream" but not "stabbing".

And why did you combine Dwarvish with Goblin?
We have one dwarf and two goblins in our skull, among other things.

While you rest, you scan the area for auras. Not including the looming giant that you're heading towards, there are quite a few. One of them, which is fairly close, seems to come from a very large bird-like thing. A giant cave swallow?
"What?" you ask the goblins. "Giant cave swallows? You're kidding, right?" Nope. You wonder what would lead to swallows living in caves, and what, exactly, would cause them to grow giant. "Magic," you say to yourself. It explains everything, really.
You mentally observe the bird until it flies off, then continue your scan. You mostly observe small things, hopping from cap to cap, fluttering, spinning webs, and wriggling in the mud.
Your scan complete, you investigate further the giant you are seeking. It appears to be dormant, quiet, and uninteresting. Taking full advantage of this, you examine every part of it. It appears to have the shape of an immense feline, curled into a sleeping position. You listen for any activity, mental or physical, but there is nothing interesting. Only some threads of half-remembered dreams, all about chasing smaller creatures.
You draw back into your own consciousness and sit up. You begin to wonder if you can convince Fortresssparks to make itself hollow to form larger weapons. You have it turn into a knife again and start thinking of things it might be able to form.
You start off with something simple: a short sword. You ask it to hollow itself out to make the blade larger, but it is very reluctant to do so. When you finally convince it try, you take it to the nearest tree and slice right through. The tree flops over into the thicker part of the forest, leaning on its neighbors for support. You inspect the blade very closely, but see no marks on it.
"There," you say to it. "No damage at all! There's nothing to be worried about." It strikes you that you shouldn't have to comfort an instrument of war, but it's still young. You have it form other things, a spear, a pike, a naginata, and it preforms just fine. You then have it become a grappling hook. You tie it to the rope you were provided and climb atop the nearest treeshroom. Hiding Fortresssparks and collecting your rope, you continue your journey, walking over the sea of trees instead of through it.

Another few hours of walking brings you to a sheer wall that ends at the ceiling several hundred feet above. It stretches for what looks like miles to both your left and right. To make things worse, your lantern is flickering. You suspect that it will only last for a few more minutes.

All in due time. When we find our way back to the surface, we will probably investigate these things. For now, however, we are still in the caverns.

glowing stick of bluee light seems like a good idea but it should be mentally draining on your magik abilities
