You do your best to focus your mind and meditate, even though you are stuck in an extremely uncomfortable position.
You scan the area around you, but the only auras you see are normal, healthy ones and auras that gave the impression of death. They are blackened and sickly, showing little life within. It's probably a bad idea to be exposed to these auras, because you can see that other auras near them blacken just slightly from the proximity. Turning your attention away from your immediate surroundings, you look down, past the lower floors, past the hospital, past the buzz of life in the soil. You keep focusing as much as you can, and you get the feeling that your mind has entered a large open space. You search around a little, but there is nothing here. You draw yourself back into your body, (roll of 9) but something catches your attention. It's a living thing, definitely, but it's unlike anything you've ever seen. It pulses with mental energy, and from the size of it, it could have easily leveled the entire city. You feel suddenly that it is looking in your direction. (roll of 14) It doesn't notice you, but it pulses with more energy, as if it suspects something. You pull back as fast as you can and jump back into your body.
You jerk awake in your hospital bed again. That was certainly interesting. You test out the buttons on the panel you haven't pressed, and one of them eventually turns the TV across the room on. You fiddle with it some more, and get to a news channel. For some godawful reason this channel is in Spanish, but from the images you can extrapolate that the scientists' best guess is that a massive earthquake, made land, and poor construction standards all combined to destroy half the city. You know this to be complete bull, but no one would believe you if you told them what really happened.
Would you guys like me to fast-forward through our stay in the hospital? I could write out the updates until we're healed, but that might cause a bit of story stagnation, which is what really caused the "earthquake."
