You must be dreaming. There is no way the world would just empty itself randomly like this. You pinch yourself a few times, but you don't wake up. Of course... You'd expect the pinching. You sprint toward the plaza, the wind rushing by your ears you leap into the air and dive straight into the fountain. You smash into the bottom and nearly break your jaw. No, you are definitely not dreaming. The pain of this admittedly quite idiotic stunt courses through your entire head and down your spine. Looking into the water, you notice a few drops of crimson. Checking your chin, you notice that you are bleeding a little. Ugh, another injury. Just what you need.
Thinking a little clearer, you get the idea that there is some sort of party or sports event going on. It's unlikely that this is the case, because no sports event has such massive popularity to clear out an entire city, and just one party has the same problem. Maybe a combination? You slosh out of the fountain and head back to your dorm.
Once there, you change into a pair of jeans, a solid brown shirt, and sneakers. After that is done, you go out into the hallway and just listen. You stand in the hall for ten minutes listening for the slightest hint of music, or talking. None, there are no parties going on in your dorm.
You leave and go out to the nearest fraternity house. Standing outside and listening reveals nothing, and the front door is locked, so you can't go in and ask.
You go to the office, but it's locked as well, and you can't see anyone through the glass anyway. You decide to go see the nurse. If there is anyone left, Nurse Ming will be there. She was required to be there during the day, no matter what.
You arrive at her office and see that the door is open. Finally! You go inside, and there she is, sitting at her desk as usual.
"How can I help you?" She asks, smiling.
You show her your chin, and ask for a bandage.
"Oh, you poor thing!" she cried. "Hold still, I need to disinfect it first!"
"Okay," you say quietly. Something about her eyes is really hypnotic, and you hold completely still as she applies the disinfectant.
"How did you get this?" she asks.
"I... uh... fell..." You feel your willpower being sapped.
"Fell? Fell where?"
"The.. fountain..." After applying the bandage, she steps back, and you feel you mind returning. You suddenly feel that it's dangerous to be around her for too long.
"How did you fall in the fountain?" She give you an exaggeratedly questioning look.
"I'm not sure," you lie. "I really must be going, though."
"No! You must rest! You look exhausted!" She grabs you by your forearm.
You feel an urgent need to escape, but it's hard to resist... you feel so tired all of a sudden.
