"Okay, I'll help," You say, "How long until midnight?"
"Only a few hours." they both say in unison.
"Right," damn nonspecific youngsters. "What do I have to do, then?"
Richard looked over at the fire, then pointed at a corner.
"See that corner there?" He asked. "You need to bring over a few of the longer logs and make sure that it doesn't collapse. The frame needs to keep that shape, otherwise the fire will die before midnight."
You walk over to the box of logs and try to get two of the longer ones out. Robert just leers at you with his freaky, overly wide smile.
Disentangling the logs from one another forces you to stand near Robert for a little too long, and the hairs on the back of your neck stand up. You can feel his eyes looking through you.
Once the logs were out of the box and into your arms, you go back to Richard and Emily. Emily looks like she has been laughing, and Richard has just the smallest indication of a smile on his face.
You take this in stride and swagger toward the fire, hell bent on not showing any sign of fear. All the people around the fire seem fairly happy to see you, though it probably has something to do with you helping to keep it burning.
Unless you guys are feeling creative, we have two immediately obvious options here: Throw the logs in from a distance and risk bringing down the entire bonfire structure, or get closer and set them up carefully and risk being burnt.
I should remind you that we have no idea how they will react if you mess up, and both of these options involve using random.org, which is known to be randomly cruel. Or kind. Don't count on either.
