Tell me, to what end would someone kill Santa? Why would they possibly want to take on all that responsibility? It sounds like a horrible waste of time.

I don't think whoever killed Santa wanted to take on his responsibilities. More like denying presents to good children because he's mean and evil, not removing competition to corner the market, I'd say.

I'd point out that you haven't actually said anything yet either, but it's OK. The point is to get the conversation flowing.

Yes, it's a bit different from usual, due to the theme and roles, but it's the same in principle: get the scum (or if you're scum, get the town). It's just a bit more convoluted, but that makes it more fun. The roles are there primarily to provide game mechanics, thematic flavour, and balance; you don't have to talk in character or anything like that. You can if you wish, sure, although in general you should be careful about revealing too much about yourself unless warranted by circumstances.
