So...

Carefully pry what you can see out of the mine with minimal vibration while floating on hoverboards (barely any Materials gained, but safe)
Restart Mining, get Material. (Steady Material flow again, but cause the burrowers to start appearing)
Ignore Mine. (Explain in post, please)

Horrible luck, indeed!
Wait, we have gates? We can block one of the entrances?
WHAT?
*sighs*
Also: the builders saved the northeast gate by shocking the monsters?

Here's the problem: We just have too many points to defend and not enough people or autonomous firepower (read: bots) to defend them.

I'll tough it out when I can get in.
RP time!

Man, the heroic sacrifice character is having the least difficulty.
Indeed, that is ironic.

(Any way I could instead arrive with the caravan, as a guard or something? Then stay to help?)

(Yeah I agree with Twi. Why not just close two gates and have a party at the third?)

We can't seal the entrances anyway, the dome wasn't built to be breathable like a shirt, its just a generic toxic atmosphere-proof dome. (the atmosphere is breathable, though)
Update making.

Better Air circulation for both the people and the crops.
The shocking is just a random event, the builders were nearby and ran off to help Bo.

(Well, I'd rather be alive then have a better circulation. But I'll stop complaining now.)

What would you rather have? Clean air with fresh crops and water but a bit more to guard, or corpse fumes ruining the crops and water with more enemies focused on one point? Having the guard stations spread out like this means less work in the long run.

Longer explaination (in addition to Lilli's statement):
The planet was seen as peaceful, so no one thought it was neccesary to need an emergency SHUT.DOWN.EVERYTHING. button, much less need to do with only one source of fresh air and have to set up machinery to create a wind current and circulation.

Then the virus came, and everyone PANICKED!
Untill you 5 volenteered to guard. then everyone else was like "good luck guys!" while still kinda panicked and thinking (goodbye, and thanks for stalling them :( :-\ :'() Most of the colonists are pessimistic about survival right now, still.

You two appear to not be thinking too deeply about this, so I'm not going to try arguing tactics with you. Just run the next turn Aklyon.
