Tilesets 2010 vs 40d
« on: December 19, 2010, 05:30:56 pm »

Look at this, how someone can migrate from 40d to 2010 without being uncomfortable with these tilesets? I can not really adapt to it.

40d:

2010:

Maybe if you compared it to a similar one, like Phoebus, Mayday or Ironhand, instead of.... THAT.

There many other new tile sets that in my opinion look better than either of those.

Plus that second one has some weird aliasing or blurs going on there... graphics card settings?  init file settings?

Ironhand is the gritty reboot of DF tilesets, not whatever the hells going on in that Silver Age 2nd picture.

I find it odd that someone would assume that all DF2010 tilesets look exactly the same.

After all, what's the point of having more than one tileset available if they all have the same style? ???

Maybe he is lookin at the ttf fonts on the side of the 2010 shot, I dunno. Other than that, both screenies are of maydays tileset. And little has changed on it since the 40d days as far as I can tell.

Ah, I didn't realize that they were both just two versions of mayday. I use phoebus' which is decidedly different to (and personally better than) both of those.

But yeah, if you don't like one particular tile set, go looking through the collections of them for one that you do like

Personally the ttf is horrendous.

Phoebus is probably your best bet, though you may not like the icons for ores.
Comes preinstalled for no work needed also.

I like Ironhand, but until something in the game gets implemented, it has some text issues.

Heres all the mods and tilesets:  http://www.bay12forums.com/smf/index.php?topic=28829.0
