Radioactive material. Hmm, any chance of having techie figure out if there's tungsten and beryllium or equivalent elements on this planet? If you know what I'm getting at ;)

What does that have to do with atom bombs and/or nuclear power?

Anyways: Start mining operation.

Beryllium is pretty much completely transparent to high energy radiation, while simultaneously acting as a decent mirror to neutrons. You can use it for the outer layer of a nuclear bomb or as a window for a high energy death ray. Tungsten is also a very good neutron reflector but it's also far denser then beryllium, making it excellent for keeping nasty radiation out (may require a pretty big layer though). Plus, it's damn tough as well, especially if you use the coal on this planet to make tungsten carbide.

Unobtainium Valkium is insanely chaotic, so it could shield from radiation. Maybe. It's very very very unpredictable.

Valk makes another drone, christened Drone 3.

You make a watchtower, which takes about 7 materials.

You find some interesting stuff in the ruins. It looks like some creatures used to live on this planet, before dying off somehow. Then, the radio signal cuts off. Must have gotten too deep.

You start a mining operation. In the first hour, you get about 803 gold and 926 Valkium. Dear Jesus.

That's that day done. The sun rises, on day 6. The Guard finally comes back. He says he saw technology apparently powered by Valkium. He couldn't get any of the equipment, but it is there.

It appears that all this Valkium is somehow messing with the very laws of reality. A few minutes after sunrise, time somehow went backwards and then forwards again, then backwards.

What does the guard mean by saying he "couldn't get any of the equipment"? Is it too heavy for him to carry? Is it bolted down? Is it in the possession of someone else?

ANOTHERRRR DRONNNEEEE!

They get the equipment back, whilst you make a dirt path.

It seems that this ancient tech isn't activated yet. Activate it?

You activate it. The Valkium starts spinning around, and then reality suddenly flips inside out, and now you have the keys to your very own spaceship.

...

Valkium is weird.
