Colony Drop, a simulation of a colony.
« on: December 19, 2010, 04:10:27 pm »

This is a forum game where you control a leader of a space colony. You are dropped from space with two crew members, 2 machine guns, 200 clips of ammo, 30 supplies of food/water and an all land vehicle. You guys suggest something, like this:

I suggest you attempt to build a tower.

And then I show you how that goes.

The tower is almost done, but it is not fully operational.

Also, a turn is a day.

OK? OK.

Spoiler: Crew (click to show/hide)

The Dropper lands onto the planet with a thump. K'alk steps out first, his antennae pointing in all directions.

"Dagh Klik!" [All Clear!] He shouts in his alien language.

You then step out, looking around. You seem to have landed in a clearing in a very swampy plain. The Dropper is kinda messed up, but it can function.

Valk steps out next. He looks around. His fur was standing up a few minutes ago, when you entered the atmosphere and everyone's ears burst, but now his fur is in it's normal position.

"Well, it's wet." Valk notes.

"Ghaaa Gk Gk!" [Well, yeah, idiot.] K'alk mutters.

What do you do for your first turn? You have two crew members, 2 machine guns, 200 clips of ammo, 30 supplies of food/water and an all land vehicle. You have minimal power.

You search around for material. You get 11 materials. What shall you do with them?

You make a fire. It costs about two materials.

The sun sets on the horizon. The sky turns red, and the day is at an end.

Food/water left: 29.

It is a new day. What do you do?

Note: You can make your crewmembers do specific things based on their skill.

Obtain more building material. Estimate how much building material it would take to surround the camp with a fifty-foot square wall.

Explore the surrounding area with the ALV. We need to eventually find some food.

Send Techie to find a usable power source of some kind.

It's known as the Oppai-Kaiju effect. The islands of Japan generate a sort anti-gravity field, which allows breasts to behave as if in microgravity. It's also what allows Godzilla and friends to become 50 stories tall, and lets ninjas run up the side of a skyscraper.

You search for building material. You find 72. It is enough to make a camp wall. After that, you are left with 12.

You then unload the ALV, and search around. You find some ruins, but it would take a long time to explore them. You also find 4 units of food/water, leaving you with 34 units.

You don't have enough building material to make a shelter.

You send Valk to find some power. He comes back with a power source: A type of coal that appears on the planet. You now have Lower Middle power, meaning you can now set up some machines. What do you want to dedicate today's power source to?

Making Drones: Means you can explore safely, but at your level of power means that you can only make a half of a drone per day.

Making Flares: Means you can scare away whatever horrors lurk on this planet, but it cannot kill them. You can make 2 a day.

Making Tools: Means you can mine more advanced materials.

Well, a message like that would take about a week to reach The Federation, and you know the shipment of supplies is going to come in about 5 days.

You make tools.

The sun sets, leaving you at Day 3.

You see smoke on the horizon. What do you do?
