I actually thought Max Payne was kind of a shitty game, but whatever.

Thats kind of the other side of it to, if an unknown indie games dev and EA both make the same game, people are going to gush over the indie one, and people are going to spit on the EA version, because its EA, (shitty analogy I know, but you get the idea) over hyping can also be a terrible thing, the new duke nukem, on its own 2 feet not a bad game, but after years of hype its a pile of poo.
  Sorry, its late.

For that game in particular, it was more 'Hey, lets finish the unfinished vaporware award winner!...but only like its a shooter with duke nukem. Its not like people have been waiting for this or anything'

It's known as the Oppai-Kaiju effect. The islands of Japan generate a sort anti-gravity field, which allows breasts to behave as if in microgravity. It's also what allows Godzilla and friends to become 50 stories tall, and lets ninjas run up the side of a skyscraper.

EA, Valve and Activision are spending millions to create hype, so its gotta be worthwhile for them to have it.
Hype is overrated.

Heh. No, its not.

Awareness to a product can never be overrated. there is undeserving hype, sure. there is annoyingly down your throat artificial hype, sure. but i am 100% positive you can only buy a product you are aware of.

There is growing awareness, and there is hype. The two are seperate things until you reach the meeting point.

Not just. I've been checking the new posts for three days now hoping there was something relevant, but nope.

The moment the lever was pulled, somebody's pet kitten stepped onto the bridge. I read somewhere that if a cat falls more than 11 stories, it instinctively flares its legs out to increase air resistance. This slows it down enough to stick the landing with relatively minor injuries. In Dwarf Fortress, apparently, cats don't do that.

...The website is down. Either something is wrong, or the demo is going to be released soon.
