Glad this is still around. It sounded (and looked) great, but then it just got ... quiet. Vaporware quiet.

Are there any other games like this? Or is this literally the only game like this?

DF doesn't mold players into its image - DF merely selects those who were always ready for DF.

Minecraft UI is very simple. There's only so many ways you can implement "simple" without copying something. We also gonna complain that it uses WASD?

I wish the devs were a bit more...talkative.

The periods of silence are HUGE, and they even have twitter, how hard is a <140 chars message every 3 days or so?

Maybe they just don't want to hype it up until it's playable but still, you can't build a community if the community has nothing to talk about.

a community is worthless if theres nothing in the first place, they are active in the forum just to let you know so they haven't been gone hopefully putting time into the game.

1 or 2 recent posts doesn't make them active.
Sometimes it's 2-3 months between every forum post.

Dunno what you mean "worthless". Isn't everyone in the community a potential buyer?
So it's worth something to the devs, and I know reading devlogs etc makes me excited, so it's worth it to me.

What a silly statement. It is up to the game devs to create something for the community to form around. If there is nothing there in the first place, that isn't the community's fault.

jesus i need to edit my english badly >__>
That was suppose to say " A community can be based on the idea and doesn't need constant support from the dev to keep it alive"

I have no idea where i lost it in the editing process......

EA, Valve and Activision are spending millions to create hype, so its gotta be worthwhile for them to have it.

The point is, if 2 games are equally good, the one with the most hype will make the most sales.

When experimenting, you have to change one variable at a time too see the effects.

Hype? Look at diablo and max payne - first is not so good, but successfull try to make more money from the title. Second is not so popular, great FPS with fresh mechanics and great bullet-time solution for multiplayer. Yes a lot of it is scripted, but hey, im not going to play story second time, neither i did diablo, nor most of AAA games.
