Re: StarCraft: The Forum Game, Turaxis II Boot Camp
« Reply #90 on: December 18, 2010, 09:04:01 pm »

Personal Possessions have been added to the front page, we still have two slots open, but here we go down to the planet.

Sergeant Finley walks in.  "Cut the chatter ladies.  You're here to be soldiers not gossips."  With that Finley takes his seat at the back of the dropship as it begins to seal up.  After the preparations are all complete and the Wraith escorts have arrived you get your first view of the planet Turaxis.  You can see three moons rotating around the planet.  The planet only has one large ocean, the rest is land.  As you look out you can see most of the scars from the Guild Wars have been covered up and now the world looks just like any other fringe colony.

After a short ride, the dropship lands in a large installation.  Sergeant Finley stands up and says "OK, two lines, shortest in front, tallest in back."  As everyone fumble around trying to create a decent line the Sergeant looks more and more disgusted.  "Alright, now that you girls finally got that sorted out, get marching out there, lead with your left foot."  The Sergeant opens the door and proceeds to march you out.  All of your personal possessions are taken away for the duration of boot camp and basic clothing and gear is handed out.

"OK, you have one hour to get suited up in your new uniforms, clean up, and eat.  We meet in the Parade Grounds at 2230, it is 2130 now.  Get moving!"  Says the Sergeant as he moves back to the Dropship to shuttle more recruits to the base leaving you to eat and clean up for yourself.

((I'm leaving for California really early tomorrow: like, 4:00 AM or 4:30. I'll probably have internet when I get there, but I can't be sure, and I will be busy for the next two weeks regardless. While I don't doubt I'll be here from time to time, I certainly won't be here as much.))

John goes off and follows his orders, and just sits around and waits in the parade grounds. Days without food on Mar Sara made him able to go without for very long periods.

Hot shower, warm meal and a clean shirt? More than I had before...anywhere's better than that...i've got something to live for...
OR are you just kidding yourself? Remember who you WERE. Used to be, they never told you what to do...

Deb does as ordered, somewhat taking his time but still ensuring he arrives on schedule.

Xavier showers, puts on his new uniform, eats, and heads out to the parade grounds slowly. He does not wish to socialize.

I have absolutely no idea what's going on in this fort any more. Migrants arrive, they die for some reason, the fort is flooded for another reason, then dwarves go mad, more dwarves die and I'm just laughing in my distress.

Try to haggle for a while to keep the knife. Seeing that this is useless, Emily will hurry to the shower change and eat, trying to hide some more food somewhere.

That wouldn't make too much sense.  Moria is part of the Kel-Morian Combine, not the Dominion.

Jake dutifully stops ranting in order to do what the Sergeant told him to do!

You salute the Sergeant as he leaves and clean up and eat quickly, not wanting to be late and get yourself chewed out.

John goes off and follows his orders, and just sits around and waits in the parade grounds. Days without food on Mar Sara made him able to go without for very long periods.

You clean yourself and put on new clothes, skipping over the rations though.  Military food isn't much better than starving in your book anyhow.

Amelie does what she's told...

Hot shower, warm meal and a clean shirt? More than I had before...anywhere's better than that...i've got something to live for...
OR are you just kidding yourself? Remember who you WERE. Used to be, they never told you what to do...

You arrive first at the Parade Grounds, as one would expect of a dutiful soldier of your no doubt high caliber.  Strangely though, you don't feel compelled by the resoc, you just did.

((You got an extremely lucky roll, guess who's already shaking off resoc))

Deb does as ordered, somewhat taking his time but still ensuring he arrives on schedule.

You go about your activities taking your time.  You decide to shower and change last, unfortunately you arrive a little bit late.  You sneak into line and whisper to Jake, "I didn't miss anything right?"

Xavier showers, puts on his new uniform, eats, and heads out to the parade grounds slowly. He does not wish to socialize.

After showering and eating, you head towards the parade grounds.

Catherine (not having eaten in a while) hurries trough the rest of the things and takes her time eating

You eat at the rations offered to you ravenously.  You think you're going to like military life just fine as long as they keep the food supply up.

Try to haggle for a while to keep the knife. Seeing that this is useless, Emily will hurry to the shower change and eat, trying to hide some more food somewhere.

After unsuccessfully trying to keep your skinning knife, you go about and follow your orders. You think about hiding food somewhere, but your uniform is completely devoid of hiding places. You arrive just on time at the Parade Grounds.

Follow orders

You eat, shower, change, and arrive at parade grounds.

At Parade Grounds

After a couple of speakers go up and talk about serving the Dominion to your fullest capacity and how important it is to learn everything you can during boot camp to become the best soldier you can be you're dismissed into your pre-assigned squads.

Sergeant Finley gathers you guys up, "OK, before you bed down for the night you're each going to have an interview with a morale officer.  After that bed down and prepare to wake up at 0600 hours and start Physical Training and Armor Maintenance drills."  With that, you're all directed into a small room with a morale officer, ((All 10 are in different rooms))  and are given a form with 5 simple questions on it.

1)  Why did you join the Dominion Marine Corps?
2)  Do you have any prior work experience?
3)  What is your education level?
4)  Do you have any criminal background?
5)  You see a turtle on its back in the desert its belly basting in the sun, but you don’t turn it over, why are you not doing anything to help turn the turtle over?

Maybe they weren't all simple...

1)  Why did you join the Dominion Marine Corps?
A planet like Baxcia lack opportunity for a woman apart from whoring around. With the price of intersystem travel so high, signing up with the Corps was my only way out. Plus, the recruiting sergeant didn't ask too many questions and gave me one month' stipend so that I could pay off some debts.
2)  Do you have any prior work experience?
I used to help my father hunt and skin Ursadons for a living. For the last two years, I did a variety of small jobs on Boralis, working in bars and so... I also did a short stint as a mechanics, working on the trapper's sleigh, but the boss was thinking that I owed him overtime in his bed...
3)  What is your education level?
During the Ursadons breeding seasons, me and my father would stay in Boralis and I attended primary school there. I also tried to keep studying while on our hunting trips, but Dad always told me that books were too heavy and took place that could be used for more useful equipment. I can read and write okay, but I never got much academic training.
4)  Do you have any criminal background?
I was never convicted of anything.
5)  You see a turtle on its back in the desert its belly basting in the sun, but you don’t turn it over, why are you not doing anything to turning the turtle over?
Because the turtle must have done something bad! It must be a bad turtle, a turtle that didn't care for his family or did wrong things. (Seize her head in her hands) Bad turtle, bad turtle, bad turtle...

The morale officer looks over your answers.  "I see.  Welcome to the Marine Corps, Emily.  We'll be in touch with you again soon."  He says and dismisses you back to the barracks.  "Oh and give this to Sergeant Finley on your way out."  He says giving you a piece of paper with the number 32 and your name on it.
