I wish I had some money left to donate...

I mean I really do think DF is sorely laking in Narwhals. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Narwhal

All this talk of the Kakapo misbehaving on camera reminds me of this Onion video:

Edit: Oops, not sure how I managed to butcher the board code for that so badly.  :-\

Fixed that link for you.

I was planning on donating already, but now I can donate and put in an animal vote!  Excellent idea Rainseeker and thanks Toady for going along with it.

Now for the ultimate question, snakes or sea mammals.

Come on, we need some Moose!

I can't help but giggle at the thought of a 7 foot tall 1000 pound moose chasing down dwarfs.

I concur!  Though I have noticed that "moose" is apparently already a valid template for FBs and demons.  When I first played DF 0.31, one of the first things I saw was the list of animal extracts in the food stocks screen, including "moose brute extract", which made by brain fall out.

"Moose" as well as many other species that work for FBs and demons are just names to help the player to imagine the animal.

As much as I REALLY like the idea of moose (Yay wild huntables for the great frozen north!), I'm going to donate for Coyotes.  Which steal food and are liked for their tenacity, their impertinance, their yipping calls, or perhaps for their pointed ears and muzzle.

You forgot

Rainseeker likes Proboscis Monkies for their large honking noses.

I would have my adventurer hunt them down just for the thrill of hacking/scratching/biting their noses off. In his lair, he will have a chest full with noses. Right next to the one full of groundhog tails.

Don't worry, the Narwhal are already sponsored. With a Weebl's stuff reference, I might add!

I'd rather wait for boats and fixed swimming pathing before I'll get enthused about whales.

Ofcourse, once it does, I'll be all "Árrrrrrr! Thär she Blöws!". :D

But while whaling involves draining the ocean using pumps, I'll focus my (and Toadys) attention on more productive species. :p

I'm really waiting for octopi myself.  They're intelligent and amphibious, which means, say it with me, War Octopi.

But my previous donation stands by crabs.  For epic crab battle.  And giant cave crabs.  And crabmen.
