Oooh, niftiness. Out of curiosity, will these animals be implemented with all the expected bells and whistles, such as spitting cobras spitting venom, and termites eating wood?

I still think that the whole fortress should be flooded with magma the moment you try dividing by zero.
This could be a handy way of teaching preschool children mathematics.

It's known as the Oppai-Kaiju effect. The islands of Japan generate a sort anti-gravity field, which allows breasts to behave as if in microgravity. It's also what allows Godzilla and friends to become 50 stories tall, and lets ninjas run up the side of a skyscraper.

Same here, I spent it all on Christmas presents...
This is a great idea. Can't wait to see the new wildlife.

Been meaning to donate for a while, but this has decided it for me to be now.

If we donate a larger increment of $10, can we pick multiple critters? (under the assumption Toady gets a larger cut of a single transaction?)

I notice that velvet worms are conspicuously absent from the list. Shame.

I'd be a bit torn. Do you sponsor your favourite animal, knowing that generations of dwarves with be making leather thongs out of their skin and turning their eyeballs into biscuits?

On a more serious note: Hells yes. -harp seal fur coat-, anyone? (Here's hoping we get fur as a harvesting option, hehehe.)

EDIT:

Monotremes.

YES.

We all know Australians are dwarveds. Hairy, funny-accented people who drink and mine a lot? Of course!

That's the great thing about this forum. We can derail any discussion into any other topic.
It's not an embark so much as seven dwarves having a simultaneous strange mood and going off to build an artifact fortress that menaces with spikes of awesome and hanging rings of death.

If pandas are not the first sponsored creature in, I will eat my own beard.  Donations shall be sent!

My Steam tag is Lobstah Rage Fist. I think I know what I need to do.

And... done. Do I wait for an email from Toady confirming donation or...?

Also awesome from that list: Axolotls

This is such a mindblowingly awesome idea.

My top candidates:
- bees, in the hopes that we'll get honey etc. out of the deal
- mosquitoes, no swamp is complete without them
- cuttlefish, one of the most adorable invertebrates
- iguanas, because reptiles are shamefully underrepresented in the game

And... done. Do I wait for an email from Toady confirming donation or...?

He usually sends out a confirmation, yeah, although it may take a few days (or longer, if this brings in a ton of donations).
