I slept in a lair with a
night troll, who I had trapped inside with a campfire to avoid any sort of a fight. After having to trek
around a
Terrifying series of Evil Mountains (blinking eyeballs included, first time seeing those), I, a tad drowsy and bored of physically walking there (not wanting to be ambushed), arrive in what was nearly crepuscular light (which roughly translates to being late afternoon/sunset). The mountains that surrounded the cave on the map, were shaped in a concave fashion, meaning I also had to backtrack back up north to arrive, and I sure as heck ain't suicidal enough to run through evil mountains of that
savagery, or (any evil zones for that matter). My destination was the
Cave of Suicidal Shrieks, surrounded by
Benign Hills.
What do I find?
Kobolds (for the first time too)! (Hundreds of Kobolds I later found out!!)
I walked up the the cave mound, when out appears some Kobolds. Not sure what to entirely expect, I try to see if I can talk to them.
The first few respond with angry glares and bad thoughts, which they intented to make a reality (mainly me dead in a ditch somewhere).
So, I fought back! We fought, and we fought, and we fought some more well into the night. Sometimes I ran into a small murky pool, to stop them from surrounding me/reaching me, and I would throw mud at them, which usually led to their death by suffocation. (Infact, not only was throwing items a relatively sizable choice of starting a fight, the puddle was mostly one of the first things I did when I started fighting them, as I was unsure of how dangerous they were in combat).
But still I fought and I fought, still confident in my armor's ability to protect me, and in my fighting abilities.
When I would have seemingly killed all that existed on one side of the mound, I'd start walking around said mound to kill more of them/look for the cave entrance. Eventually, I got to the other side of the cave mound, but then, there appeared to be over twice as many kobolds in each squad that appeared. (They usually approached me in sets, not individually.) Around this, my character was starting to tire out. They just wouldn't end!
Most of them were unarmed, wearing and holding nothing but loincloths, and tunics (plus the occasional quiver), and many of them proved to be pathetically weak in combat. My method was either attempting to hack off limbs, or browsing the few Kobolds that surrounded me, hoping to find a good headshot. The few archers that were there failed to shoot an arrow that wasn't either blocked, or missed their mark outright. And their failed attacks were quickly met with disarmament, followed by a quick and hasty death. The one swordsmen, (and few of the armed thieves that existed there), also met a similar fate, (though they were given spining rock treatment first before I touched them).
Eventually, I just got annoyed. I was really starting to believe that these things were endless!
So, I went to the top of the mound, hoping I'd catch the attention of as many of the darn things, after which I planned on running back down to that puddle from earlier, and simply snipe the darn things dead from it. What I didn't expect, were for there to be kobolds following me up from behind as I went up the mound. So... I pretty much saw myself as stuck up there. (Though in retrospect I still had an escape route, but simply failed to notice/use it).
So I fought there. With nearly 3-4 times the amount of enemies attempting to strike me, I just couldn't avoid taking hits. Eventually... I started passing out!
The darn things were crushing my fingers and knocked out some of my teeth!
This wasn't what killed me, but I tell you what, it certainly urged me to start attempting to run! They were still following me, and kept their attack on, and my guy got PISSED and went into beserk mode, and so I started trying to fend as many of them off. His fury was perhaps all that seemed to be keeping him awake. Sadly, I barely got a single kill in during that moment. It was some sort of blind fury.
Not too long after, my man simply had no more energy to continue his rage. He was over-exerting himself... He was so tired, he couldn't even pick himself up off of the ground. So. Tired and wanting it to end, he tried to crawl towards the water... Eventually,
he made it!"
Yes", I thought, "
He's gonna make it!" Nope... He passed out the second he made it into the water. Not far enough to get out of range.
Sadly... he died not too longly after that...
Not from Kobolds attacking him... but from
DROWNING! He freaking drowned in the water!
My character managed to kill around
97 Kobolds single handedly!
Though he did die...
The character that followed him, also maceman, would be directed to head straight towards that cave site. (He would stop by that same puddle first to grab my armor and things.)This guy managed to kill the remaining Kobolds a lot easier. (It wasn't because most of the remaining ones were severely injured.) It was mainly because I wasn't using Shift+A to aim my attacks this time. (I was also setting trees and shrubs on fire, making a danger/death zone, to which I would attempt to keep the kobolds back in.) Apparently, this time, my character did a much better time killing the bad guys. He was cutting off limbs like crazy!
Shortly, they were all dead. I had gotten my revenge, and grabbed my old body, hoping somebody will bury him. I looted the crafts, and looked around a bit making sure there wasn't any walking about.
But you know what? You want to know what pissed me off the most? What really, REALLY,
REALLY pissed me off the most?
I couldn't even find the dang tunnel to lead me INTO the CAVE! This entire walk was for nothing! How annoying...
Y U SO STUPID GAME?
