The group had been travelling the wastes for what seemed like months. They knew where they were going, and they knew how long it would take them to get there, but they were unprepared for the harsh reality of life outside the vault. The leader of the migrants, a Sawyer named Argonnek, explained that they had left the Vault with 50 people in the group, but constant attacks by huge scorpions, large, golden geckos and giant ants had whittled them down to a mere 24. Many of the dead were military escorts, who had given their lives to ensure the safety of the civilians. There was a sombre mood in the vault that night, as everyone reflected on the huge cost exacted on their friends and relatives by the wastes. Still, the original 7 were glad to see their extended family again, and a party was organised, using the last of Tallpanzer's 'Medicinal' Chems and some Giant Mantis Meat Biscuits that Bobby G had cooked up for a special occasion.
It was decided that the stonefall traps on the entrance, while working against thieves, were not really suited to holding off a full scale attack, and no one wanted to take any chances with the hulking figures that had wounded Tallpanzer so grievously. Donna, who had shown great skill in making quality weapons, was asked to construct a large amount of Chainsaws and Super Sledgehammers, which would be used in hidden weapon traps in vault entrance. Gareth got to work on refining the Copper Nuggets and Cassiterite he had found, but then stopped. He could see it, He could see the door! But no one else could know. He'd have to hide it from them! Running down towards the workshops, he grabbed a slab of Obsidian and a Turtle shell from their respective piles, then locked himself into the Mason's shop, determined that nothing would disturb him while he made his masterpiece.
Migrants, a party, and my first mood! Shame Gareth's a miner, and already legendary.
I'll try and mention more new migrants by name in the next update.
