What to do now
« on: December 17, 2010, 02:23:37 pm »

Well i was just returning from totally destroying 7 outlaws.
I broke all their wrists and then proceeded to have my way with them and improving my wrestling skills greatly. (Am Expert now)

But on the way back the night broke and i was attacked by a cougar. I managed to chase it away but it severed the motor and sensory nerves of my right foot (twice???)

So now i crawled back to the local hamlet and i still can't stand.
Am i totally screwed now and will i never walk again? Or is there a way to fix this ''problem'' and continue on my merry way and killing more baddies.

Grab a crutch. They improve your speed while you are holding one.

But it will basically impair wrestling and such right?

I am used to wrestle with left hand and copper shield and with the crutch it wouldn't be possible.

Isn't their a doctor or something who can do some magic and make me OK (or close to that) again?

I really don't want to go into fights on my belly.

well, you can put the shield in a backpack, pick something up in one hand, the crutch in the other, remove the shield from the backpack, hope it ends up in the same hand as the crutch. If so, drop the other item. if not, put it back and repeat.

Holding an object shouldn't affect your westling, as you can still strike with both hands. In fact, you could now use the crutch to bash you enemies, so you would now have even more options. No magic or doctors in adventure mode yet, so you'll have to use a crutch, or retire and start over.

EDIT: Just found this:

Depending on your feelings about cheating you might want to know theres currently a glitch that allows you to carry on using a crutch when you put it away thus freeing up your hand your crutchin' hand

Been there, done that.

Couldn't get a crutch.

I was like "FORGET THIS" and attacked my team and was mauled.

Nah, i rather take the challenge and just become the one legged hero of doom.

I can still snatch the weapons from baddies and then poke em with my dead foot.

Ok that story is now oficially over.

But i killed more on that crutch than with both feet working scoring 19 kills (12 after semi-crip)

^_^ That was fun while it lasted. Damn those freaking bogeymen taking me out.

Nope. Nerve damage is always permanent, forever.

I removed the [HAS_NERVES] tags from dwarves. Guess why.

That's the great thing about this forum. We can derail any discussion into any other topic.
It's not an embark so much as seven dwarves having a simultaneous strange mood and going off to build an artifact fortress that menaces with spikes of awesome and hanging rings of death.

You can snap joints with your arms and whatnot. Pinching and stealing weapons/armor only work with hands, though.
