So me, being the freak that I am, can't stand the fact that half my dining room is black and half is gray. I build some constructed granite floors and...whats this? I can't build tables or chairs because the floors are constructed and not natural?

Is this intentional or some weird glitch?

Are you sure you're not confusing the tables and chairs with up stair or ramps and such?

If not, the only thing I could think of would be that you don't have a roof over them, they have to be built indoors.

Are you (c)onstructing floors, or building roads?

Because you definitely can't build on stone roads, but you should be able to on floors.

Hum...Apparently I must have done SOMETHING wrong, because I constructed some floor tiles in a different room and I could build on those just fine. Whenever I tried to build on the other ones it would say something like "Building canceled: Construction on tile" or something.

Either way, all good now.

If you can order it to be built and it then gets cancelled there is always some other error (inaccessible material, tile blocked etc.). Otherwise you wouldn't even be able to order it.

Are you building your floors under the tables?

You have to remove the tables first.
