1:1 ratio is not right for cave cheat to cave wheat flour, if that is true, then this crop is basically useless.

Personally, I mainly use cave wheat for brewing.

This isnt about what your preference on the crop is, it's about the processing not being worked correctly.

I think youre supposed to get 3 flour for each unit of wheat - but I might be mistaken.  I brew most of mine, but I also like to cook meals from flour and wine and such to make a very high value meal.

It has been like that since the 2D version. At least, the last of the 2D versions, as that's the only 2D version I've played. See the old wiki page for cave wheat.

Ah.  Now this is a clear description of the problem.  The movie I didn't understand because I wasn't told what to look for and it had too much extraneous stuff going on.

Let's make sure.  How much flour is in each bag?  If 1 unit, we have a problem:  We're supposed to get (I think?) 3 units per plant.  If several units are in each bag, then things may be working as designed.

I will also test for this when I get a chance with my current fortress.

Milling produces flour (or dye) in a 1:1 ratio.  There is no bug here.

Milling cave wheat increases its value from 4 (raw crop) to 20 (flour). It's a small gain, but sometimes every little piece of extra value matters to a fortess in hard times.

Also, milling to flour gets you another ingredient type, possibly allowing you to make a more complex and satisfying meal.

The wiki:

"Because of the many steps, cave wheat is one of the more high-yield crops (you get 3 flour for each wheat)."

The wiki is quite wrong here, I always had 1 flour per wheat the few times I bothered with milling. Same with the 1 sugar per sweet pod, which makes it totally silly compared to the 5 to one ratio of dwarven syrup (I always loved the sweet pods for this  :) )

I remember getting three flours for each wheat in 23a.
